The house always wins. Now you can see it happen.

Graveyard Shift's gambling cards have always rolled real dice under the hood — you just had no way to watch them. This update hands you the numbers.

NEW

  • ROLL CARDS THROW A DIE YOU CAN READ — Grave Gambit, Chaos Blade, Chain Reaction and Death's Jackpot each land an obsidian twenty-sider showing the number they actually rolled, with the card's range printed beneath it. A wide gamble finally tells you how it went.
  • NO FACE LIES — the die is numbered from the card's own range, so a card that rolls 4–12 never shows a face reading 20. The number you read is the number the fight used.
  • THE CHAOS CARDS SPEAK — Loaded Dice, House Money and The House Always Wins each announce what they armed the moment you cast them, and the badge for that effect flares the instant it pays. The essence you spend is never silent again.
  • LOADED DICE NAMES WHAT IT SAVED YOU — the die shows the number you kept, and the line beneath it names the one it threw away.
  • UPGRADING MOVED INTO MANAGE DECK — beside REMOVE and CONVERT DUPES, because raising a rank is deck management. Hovering a card still previews what it becomes before you spend a token.
  • ALDRIC'S RESILIENCE IS FINDABLE — the card that raises your maximum health now turns up in about one reward in twenty during week one. You can only carry one; a second copy reforges the one you have.

THE COMBAT LOG NOW TELLS THE TRUTH

A roll of 14 landing as 6 used to look like the card lying to you. Every step is named now.

  • EVERY CHANGE TO A DAMAGE NUMBER IS EXPLAINED — the roll itself, Unpaid Debt's collection, Vulnerable, an Ancient's halving, and the enemy's Block.
  • THE HOUSE ALWAYS WINS SHOWS ITS WORK — repeating an outcome used to add the second hit in silence, so a doubled swing read as a single one with the wrong number.
  • HOUSE MONEY'S RIDER ANNOUNCES ITSELF every time it pays.
  • OVERKILL IS REPORTED — a roll of 10 into a creature with 5 health left said only 5, with no sign of where the other half went.
  • A PROC THAT MISSES SAYS SO — a fifty-fifty chance to Paralyze that failed printed nothing at all, which read exactly like a broken card.

FIXED

  • THE MUSIC SLIDER WORKS — it saved your setting but never applied it, and starting a fight quietly corrected itself, so the fault only showed if you changed it and listened.
  • THE TITLE SCREEN NO LONGER FLASHES — a pale wash swept the whole sky on every single arrival at the main menu, including every trip back from the Morgue.
  • THE MAIN MENU RUNS AT FULL SPEED — it was redrawing its entire hand-drawn graveyard every frame, most of which never changes.
  • LOADED DICE'S DICE REBUILT — carved bone cubes with gold edges, larger and readable, still landing double six.
  • THE ROULETTE WHEEL'S BALLS CAN BE COUNTED — two at its base rank, three at Ascended, matching how many times your outcomes trigger. The pair used to overlap into one too many.
  • Grave Gambit no longer tosses two small blank dice across the floor — its roll is reported by the real die now.
  • The Chaos family's props — the dice, the chips and the roulette wheel — are drawn at full resolution to match each other.
  • MANAGE DECK is tidier: crystals and tokens sit in the corner instead of a wide rail, so your cards are centred.
  • Clicking FAMILIES with a mouse on the night-survived screen did nothing after the first press.
  • The Spoiled Earth's spores rise off the fissure instead of drifting back and forth across the floor.

...plus the usual tail of smaller fixes across combat, the log and the deck screens.

Aldric was a Battle Sage once. Now he runs the night shift at the morgue, and the dead do not stay on the table.
