Hi!
Earlier today, before this announcement, I already posted one update, and with it I added a notification window to the game — something several players had asked for.
As always, you can find all the changes in the news posts titled Hotfix.
Right now, I’ve taken a short break to write this post, and after that I’ll get back to working on the updated Foremen panel. So if another Hotfix appears in the news list a “couple” of hours after this announcement, it means that today I once again chose player comfort and enjoyment over sleep 🙂
I can see the statistics, and I know that most of you are in different time zones — mainly Europe and Asia. Friday is already beginning for many of you, and if you decide to play after a long work week, I really don’t want you to have to wait another full day for me to sleep, wake up, and only then finish this window.
But I’m not promising anything for today… I’ll just do my best 😁
And once again, a huge thank you to everyone who helps me — finding bugs, reporting problems, or sending me your ideas. As you’ve probably already noticed, many of those ideas really do make their way into the game, and usually quite quickly. At least, I think so 🙂
I also want to slightly adjust the plan I wrote about yesterday.
1.The resource system
I would really like to bring this part of the game closer to realism: kilograms, pounds, bags, square meters, and other real-world units of measurement.
The problem, however, is the structure of the game itself. All of this would need to be reflected in contract requirements, the store, the warehouse, and other systems. For some players, such a system could become too confusing, while others simply may not appreciate that level of detail.
So for now, I’ve decided to leave the resource system as it is.
We’ll see. Maybe in the future I’ll find a different and more convenient way to implement it.
2.Renaming vehicles
I think I got a little ahead of myself with this one.
The main issue is localization. Vehicle names can already be fairly long in English, and in some other languages they become even longer. There are also regional differences in what certain types of machinery are called, which makes the whole question even more complicated.
So for now, this will move out of the “side tasks” list and become a proper standalone task in the future, because doing it well will require quite a bit of work.
The same goes for the issue related to the MRZ company — I’ll include that in this future task as well.
What do I want to work on next?
Today, I’ll try to finish the updated Foremen panel.
And over the next few days, I want to focus on two larger systems.
Bank
A new financial reporting panel will be added for daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
The current reporting system will also be expanded. Instead of a single button, there will be subcategories separating short-term reports — up to one month — from long-term annual reports.
Resources + a new office employee window + a new profession
This will most likely take more than one day — probably two, if I’m lucky 😅
But by now, you already know me well enough to understand that I’ll try to get it done as quickly as possible — without sacrificing quality.
At the moment, I already have a pretty good mockup for the updated materials store. Visually, it won’t change dramatically, but you will definitely notice the difference.
There will be four material suppliers in the game. Each supplier will have their own prices and discounts.
There will also be a completely new window. At the moment, I don’t even have a proper skeleton for it yet — tomorrow I’ll need to sit down, think it through, and decide exactly how it should work.
And along with it, a new profession will be added — one that many of you have requested: Procurement Manager.
As you upgrade their level, they will help you purchase materials at better prices.
I already have a much clearer idea of how this system will work: you’ll be able to set the minimum amount of materials that should always remain in the warehouse, define an acceptable purchase price range, and configure other parameters for automatic purchasing.
I have plenty of other plans for the future development of the game, but let’s deal with all of this first.
Thank you for your attention, your help, and your support!
I hope you have a smooth end to the work week and a great weekend ahead!
You’re the best!
As always:
I fix. I read. I work! 🦝🔧
