This is a big one. Two new systems land together: battle-worn portraits that make an officer's fall visible, and draft controls that let you shape your level-up picks.
50 battle-worn portraits — Every officer now has a dedicated portrait showing them after a hard fight: torn clothing, wounds, and all
50 unique lines — Each officer gets a final line true to their character, drawn from classic quotes and adapted to our tone
The moment they fall — When an officer is defeated, their battle-worn portrait and line appear at the bottom-left, backed by a faction-colored glow
Glimpses mid-battle — Taking a hit can briefly surface a portrait at a low chance, tuned so it never interrupts the fight
Reroll — Not happy with your options? Draw a fresh set from the remaining pool. Also bound to R
Hold — Keep one card until your next level-up. It's free, so a great card you can't use yet won't slip away
Skip — Pass on this pick entirely
Banish — Remove an officer you don't want from the pool for the rest of the run. Requires a second press so you won't do it by accident
Expanded Archives — These charges come from three new Archive upgrades, and the Archives now spans a 3×3 grid
Charge rework — Two officers now converge on the same target from different positions, arriving together for a pincer strike, with a blast at the landing point
Tiger rework — The tiger actually charges forward now and erupts into flame where it lands. Its hitbox was widened considerably to match what you see
Archer improvements — Arrows now visibly fly to their target and burst on impact
More effect passes — Individual blasts at each landing point, a three-tone slash effect, plus playback speed, scale, and orientation fixes across several skills
Balance tuning — Hitboxes on the above skills were adjusted to match their visuals (one widened, one reduced)
Broad balance pass — Across officers, skills, enemies, and progression. Principles are settled; execution is underway
Reworked unlock flow
More gamepad convenience — Button remapping and other refinements
