Hello Tree Victims,

These past few weeks we continued polishing the Steam demo, resulting in the following quality of life changes and adjustments (If you played recently, you may have already seen them):

  • Timer

  • Death Counter

  • A new checkpoint near the end of level 1

  • Glasses of any kind (if you're wearing them) now fly off your face as you perish

  • Miscellaneous trap adjustments and bug fixes

  • A few more character creator options

The timer and death counter have been our most requested features, and we’ve finally added them. They will appear at the end of a run, as well as on the HUD if you enable them from the Settings menu.

There was a large stretch of the first level that had no checkpoint between the one on the hill and the end of the level. Now we’ve added an additional checkpoint just before the tree-for-fall. Of course, while we want to make your lives easier, the trees still hate you, so there are a few more traps to offset any mercy.

This is likely the last major demo update. Although we will still fix any problematic bugs that might appear, this is intended to be the final form of the demo, with any additional major updates saved for the full release.

Steam June 2026 Next Fest

Next Fest is already halfway through, but with the weekend still ahead we wanted to share our excitement to be participating. Trees Hate You even got featured in the official Next Fest trailer!

Between the recent updates and the Next Fest event, this is a great week to suffer through the demo, or convince a friend or family member to try it so you can laugh at their pain.

Community29 Aug 2026Trees Hate You Has a Release Date!Hello tree victims! Earlier this week, we revealed a new trailer at the Future Games Show at gamescom. It was quite a surprise to be invited to such an event, but it was an good chance to finally announce the release date for Trees Hate You: November 16, 2026! That'll make it close to a year since I announced Trees Hate You in late 2025. Now we just need to wait a few more months to finally get…Community23 May 2026Localization, Palm Trees, and Palm TreesHello tree victims, We’ve been working to continue growing this game, and with many more eyes watching the game than we were expecting, that has meant taking a step back to ensure that our roots have been planted in fertile soil. But fear not, we’ve still got some seeds of information to share with you. First off, localization for several languages is up. While there is not much text in the gam…Community24 Apr 2026Demo Out Now!In time for the game's inclusion in the Wishlisted showcase, I'm excited to share a demo of Trees Hate You. Although many have already been sharing their playthroughs of a version of the demo that I put on Itch a while back, this is its first time being public here on Steam. The demo covers the first chapter of a horrible adventure. Design a character (or not), and then escape this awful forest…
