Another Black Hole Incremental Demo · published

UPDATE 0.35 — YOUR KEYS, YOUR SOUND, YOUR SPAGHETTI
This one is almost entirely built from your feedback and crash reports.
Rebind everything, hear everything, and watch your black hole actually eat.
SPAGHETTIFICATION
The headline feature. Prey now visibly stretches toward your event horizon
as you strip it — and the distortion tracks your actual progress. A fresh
planet barely flexes; at ninety percent eaten it's pulled into a smear
right before it collapses. Bodies shrink readably from the very first
bites, every fragment and dust mote you ingest tears a glowing filament
into the horizon at its true entry angle, and matter spiraling in
elongates the closer it falls. Finishing a body fires a filament burst and
a deep swallow sound. Your black hole finally eats like a black hole.
CONTROLS — YOURS NOW
Full key rebinding. Settings > VIEW CONTROLS is now the place: click any
binding, press the new key or controller input, done. Keyboard and
controller bindings are separate, conflicts are handled honestly, and RESET
CONTROLS TO DEFAULT brings everything back instantly. Want dash on Shift or
Space? It's your call now.
Controller polish: Right Trigger now confirms in menus, the tree's cursor
draws on top of everything (it used to hide behind buttons), and the tree
hint now tells you the Right Stick is a free cursor — much comfier than the
D-pad for picking upgrades.
Mouse steering fixed up close: the black hole now eases onto your cursor
instead of overshooting and orbiting it.
THE SOUND UPDATE
Every ability now has its own sound — including Tidal Pulse, which was
genuinely silent before. New audio for the Gravity Well cast, Horizon
Drift, Stasis Anchor, and a satisfying deep swallow sound every time you
finish a body.
Two brand-new reward sounds: completing a tier objective now sounds like
space itself exhaling, and warping is a proper stargate moment — the impact
lands exactly as the new galaxy appears.
NO MORE MISSING THE WARP
When a tier objective is complete, a big gold WARP READY button now pulses
at the bottom-center of your screen — clickable, with its own sound. No
more finishing a tier and not realizing you can move on.
FIXES YOU ASKED FOR
- Fixed a crash when confirming Save & Quit or Restart with the keyboard
after opening the popup with the mouse. Popups are fully keyboard/
controller navigable now.
- Pinning an upgrade no longer hides what you're hovering — no more
accidental purchases.
- Upgrade hover cards are shorter and clearer; the full lore lives on the
pinned card. Locked upgrades show live progress. The mysterious "???"
nodes now say what they are: full-game content you can wishlist for.
- Tutorials now teach the ability you actually bought.
- Death screen decluttered: cleaner header, four stat cards instead of
eight duplicates, consistent naming.
- Fixed the pause button overlapping the objective card, and scrollbars
overlapping text in Stats, Settings, and Controls.
- Hitting a new growth stage fires a shockwave, and the accretion disk
burns hotter while you're feeding.
As always: found something broken or missing? Tell us —
this whole update came from players doing exactly that.
