UPDATE 0.41 — ROUTES, MISSIONS, AND A DAILY ANOMALY
The biggest demo update since launch — five features and a screen-wide
cleanup, all built from your feedback:
CHOOSE YOUR ROUTE
- Warping to a new system now presents THREE ROUTES — Feeding Grounds,
Rival Territory, Storm-Scoured Expanse, Elite Objective, the Still
Route. Each names its risk and its reward before you commit.
- Your choice is permanent for the campaign: the system keeps that shape
every time you reform into it. Same campaign seed, same three offers —
routes are part of your world, not a dice roll.
- Not ready? Escape backs out of the warp. Growing first is a real answer.
SIDE MISSIONS
- Every system past the first rolls one optional side mission: hunt the
moons, feast inside a timed frenzy window, or out-eat the rivals.
- Completing one pays bonus Radiation on the spot — and the first
completion in each tier makes that tier pay +10% kill milestones for
the rest of the campaign.
- Missions are visible on the objective card, missable by design, and
never required to finish anything.
TODAY'S ANOMALY (daily challenge)
- New on the main menu: one fixed loadout, one seeded field, one named
modifier — the SAME for every player on Earth that day.
- Chase a score: peak mass + prey + cores. Your best of the day is kept.
No streaks, no login calendars, no power rewards — your campaign and
records are untouched.
A CLEANER SCREEN
- The event feed now shows 3 lines of events that matter instead of 6
lines of everything. Repeats stack into one ticking line, long lines
stay in their column instead of crossing the screen, and Settings has
a new EVENT FEED section: what it prints, where it sits (bottom-left
is in), how many lines.
- The objective card always shows live progress — anchor counts, percent
consumed — without clicking anything. New objectives announce once,
center screen, then the card flashes so you always know where it lives.
A card with nothing new quietly slims down until something happens.
- Your first Singularity Core now explains the top bar: CORES fuel warps,
MASS is your size, RADIATION is what you spend. Optional labels for the
top bar live in Settings.
MAKE THE HUD YOURS
- Pause menu → EDIT HUD LAYOUT: drag the objective card, resources,
abilities, event feed, and collapse button anywhere. Saved on your
machine; one click resets.
- Settings → MOUSE FOLLOW: steer by moving the mouse, no button held.
Clicking stays pure target-select.
FASTER BY DEFAULT
- The game now renders on VULKAN out of the box. On GPUs hit by the
Direct3D 12 stutter this measured 6 → 90+ FPS at full quality. If you
ever changed the renderer yourself, your choice is kept — and Direct3D 12
stays one Settings row away if your drivers misbehave.
FIXES
- Center-screen announcements no longer collide with objective callouts —
one voice in that lane, ever.
- A mashed warp key can no longer skip the route screen unseen.
- The Hawking Radiation readout now says what it is: your unspent balance
(runs pay out on collapse — the bar shows what's left after shopping).
