Demo Playtest

Cloudbreaker Playtest · published 6 months ago

All eventsPlayers around this dateRead on Steam

We have been working hard on the demo for Cloudbreaker. This demo is more or less feature complete, and represents a full vertical slice of the game. We need your help putting it through its paces, and honing its balance, and crushing it's bugs. This is a good moment to have your feedback incorporated into the final game. There is a feedback forum in the options menu, and our Discord is always a good place to leave your comments about what you don't like, and what you want to see more of.

Focus Feedback Areas

Overcharge

The overcharge healing mechanic works by collecting Overcharge orbs that power up your core weapon, causing it to heal you with overcharged damage. It is intended to balance healing across a run, and make it harder to heal the more overpowered your build becomes. We would love feedback on players engagement with this mechanic, and how it feels in the core loop.

Difficulty

Cloudbreaker is intended to be a challenging game. Loosing is part of the long loop, and with each loss you should feel better equipped to succeed. We would like feedback on if this is the case, or you are feeling discouraged by the difficulty.

Performance & Benchmarking

Cloudbreaker may look simple on the surface, but there’s a lot happening on the GPU. This may cause framerate drops on older PCs. If this happens, please let us know what hardware you’re using.

Bugs

We’re a two-person team here at Ballast Games, so we need your help breaking things! We’ve squashed as many bugs as we could, but you're sure to find some along the way. Please report them so we can fix them ASAP.

Progression Rate

Dialing in the long loop upgrade rate is something we are still working on. We want to ensure the player is constantly unlocking parts and ships, while providing them slowly enough to keep having something to work towards.

Known Issues

  • Inconsistent highlighting of parts on hover

  • VFX may cause slowdown on older systems. You can turn down the VFX quality in the graphics options menu if you encounter this.
