It's been about a month since the page went live for Trees Hate You. First off, I want to thank everyone who added the game to their wishlist. With 18 thousand wishlists already, I am blown away by the level of support for my silly little game about terrible trees. That support has made it easier during development to keep the momentum going, unlike this Sisyphean fellow:
During this past month, I've continued adding more traps and features, but one thing I'd like to focus this post on, which some of you have been asking me for, is character customization.
The announce trailer featured only a bespectacled man (No, he's not based on anyone in particular). Although I left him in as a quick default option for those who just want to get straight to the game, you now get the choice to take a couple minutes and make your own personalized victim.
There are options for eyes, mouths, hair, clothes, skin, and more. I had a lot of the system already built for a different project before I started working on Trees Hate You, but since then I've continued to add more options for both styles and colors, and I will keep adding more. (Yes, the UI is still kind of ugly. It's a WIP)
I've also been adding more hats that you'll find throughout the forest. Some are maybe cool. Some are awful. No promises that every hat will survive the journey.
Many of you have been asking about the release date, whether it's coming to consoles, and if there will be playtests. Unfortunately, I don't have any answers yet. But I have been working on a new demo that already feels close to ready, so hopefully I'll be able to share more about that soon.
I'll probably post more updates like this about once per month, so you can follow Trees Hate You to stay in the loop whenever I have more to share.
