All eventsPlayers around this dateRead on Steam

As we round the corner into full Act 3 development, our focus has shifted to narrative weight, early-game cohesion, and a rock-solid build for Act 2. From major cutscenes to fresh Act 1 improvements, this devlog marks the start of Rising Spire’s next chapter.

Cutscenes & Narrative Flow

New storyline additions now cleanly tell the story at hand. These new scenes bring added emotion and context.

Fully Implemented:

  • Load point scripted to ensure proper event flow
  • Cutscenes with unique logic (based on info gained)
  • Scenes reflect narrative climax
  • Dialogue polish and party member interjections included

Act 1 Rework & Quest Polish

Act 1 has received a long-overdue narrative and mechanical sweep, aligning early-game scenes with our latest systems and standards.

Reworked Introduction

  • Rewritten opening with better pacing and tone
  • Seamless transition into existing content

Quest & Cutscene Cleanup

  • Cutscenes debugged and progression issues resolved
  • Polished party interactions and contextual moments
  • New item recipes unlock through party interactions

EXP, Items, and Equipment Adjustments

To support smoother early progression and tie into new quests, we've tuned Act 1 & 2 systems to reflect the next phase of the journey.

New Recipes & Item Use Formatting

  • Fixed usable item formatting (messages now consistent)
  • Each new party member now teaches new meal recipes
  • Bosses now grant a required material to upgrade specific weapons

Sword & Shield Prototype

  • Fully implemented and balanced
  • Granted through main storyline
  • Upgrade system tested and in place

Devlog & Community Scheduling

I’ve solidified the public posting rhythm, making it easier for you to follow along!

Ongoing Schedule

(to the best of my ability)

Video Production & Trailer Prep

Behind the scenes, we’ve laid the foundation for our Act 2 trailer with the first storyboard pass and recording setup. Trailer beats scaffolded, and soon a new trailer!

Act 2 Update Polish

Playtesting across Acts 1 and 2 is in full swing as we push toward a clean, balanced update build. With new cutscenes, improved quests, and a refined early game, Rising Spire continues to evolve.

Next Devlog: Weapon Quests, Act 3 Begins

We’ll be diving into weapons, showing off the new sword and shield weapon and perhaps some improvements to the battle system! Plus, the first steps of Act 3 development has already begun so we should have some stuff to share!

What to expect in the next devlog:

  • Sword and Shield spotlight
  • First Act 3 Scenes – Drafting new environments and event logic
  • UI & Cutscene Tweaks – Ongoing visual polish

Thanks for being part of this journey. Your support keeps us energized as we push forward.

Community3 Sep 2026Another major round of playtesting completedHey, everyone! As mentioned in the last update, we're making an active, conscious effort of getting our heads out of the game engine and posting more updates about the development of Rising Spire. That update also highlighted some of the major changes that we have made to the game. Of course, the next logical step was to put a build in front of some players, so we can get an understanding of ho…Community28 Aug 2026Development news, breaking the silenceIt has been about a year since we have last shared an update here on Steam, or any other public social platform for that matter. However, the development of Rising Spire has continued uninterrupted since our last update. Those of you who are in our Discord server are probably more in the know - with our small team size it has been the space we've been able to split our focus from development wh…Community3 Jun 2025Rising Spire Devlog #6 - New Content TrailerThese past few weeks have been a bit light due to some RL blockers, but we're trudging along! This devlog focuses on essential prep work: tools, trailer scaffolding, and testing a new mid-game weapon to keep things moving while we gear up for a content-heavy update next time. Behind the Scenes – Tools, Testing & Trailer Work This sprint was light on in-game features but important for workflow a…
