Today, we want to tell you about something that is extremely important to us – your feedback. From the first trailer in 2023, through the development of the game, to the latest presentations at Digital Dragons 2025, it is your opinions that constantly influence the shape of Ecumene Aztec.
The release of the first Ecumene Aztec trailer in 2023 was a turning point for us. From a small, independent project, we became one of the most talked-about titles in the community of gamers interested in history, culture, and the action-adventure genre. It was – and still is – something wonderful!
Although the trailer went viral (60+ million views), we immediately understood the enormous expectations placed on the subject matter we were tackling. Tens of thousands of comments appeared. Some were delighted with the authenticity of the world, others rightly pointed out cultural details that could be refined, and still others pointed out that the European perspective did not fully reflect the context of the Aztec descendants.
It was then that we began intensive collaboration with historians and ethnographers. We redesigned the protagonist, the plot, the locations and the weapons – so that Ecumene Aztec would not only be a good game, but also a culturally responsible one. It would not be a lie to say that the game has undergone a significant reboot since the first trailer in 2023. Our goal is to create a story that reflects the complexity of the conquest – not as a battle between ‘good’ and ‘evil’, but as a dramatic clash of civilisations that changed the world. In one way or another.
Since we completely rebuilt the game, we couldn't wait for the first players to try it out... And finally, the moment arrived:
In May 2025, we presented the playable demo of Ecumene Aztec to a wider audience for the first time. Digital Dragons in Krakow gave us the opportunity to look players in the eye – to see their reactions in real time, hear their questions and comments, and feel the emotions our game evokes...
And we ran out of paper in our notebooks to write down everything you said...
Your voices are not falling on deaf ears. After Digital Dragons, we came back with a ton of notes – and immediately made specific changes:
we improved the readability of the stealth interface – now it's easier to understand when you can perform a silent attack and what your chances of success are,
we adjusted the first few minutes of gameplay to better tell the story of our hero and his world,
We are improving the controls and responsiveness of weapons and other actions in the game so that the player always knows exactly what to do and which way to go.
We are improving the map of the first parts of the game to make navigation clear and understandable.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg, because we know that the key is testing, testing, and more testing!
It gives us energy. Your words confirm that what we are doing makes sense. When someone says, ‘I've always wanted to play a game about the Aztecs,’ we know we're on the right track. When we read, ‘Thanks to this game, I started reading about the city of Tenochtitlan,’ we feel proud.
We recently showed you a new trailer revealing a bit of the game's plot. You already know that our hero will start as a fugitive from the sacrificial altar and will have to make decisions and become a warrior. Of course, we are closely watching your reactions. We already know that you like the Nahuatl language (the language of the Aztecs!) in the narration and are looking forward to the game because the scenario seems intriguing. We also know that we need to show you better animations of the main character. That's our priority now!
We have more iterations ahead of us, more tests, more opportunities to listen to you. The feedback you give us is not just a ‘side note’ – it's part of our production process.
We would like to thank everyone who played the demo, wrote a comment, gave a like, came to our stand or just smiled – because that also gives us strength.
See you in the next post! And remember – the Aztec story lives on! Write, comment and discuss. You have a real impact on what this game will be like!
