Hello, Warriors!

Over the last few days, we’ve been analyzing your feedback and our first takeaways from the gameplay. We’ve wrapped up the first round of Ecumene Aztec playtests, and there’s one thing we want to say: thank you!Every survey, comment, and recording was genuinely valuable to us. This was the first time we were able to show you a piece of the game we’ve been working on, which makes your reactions all the more meaningful.Your feedback on this very early version clearly shows us what is already working and what still needs a lot of attention. This is only the beginning of our journey together - more tests, demos, and conversations are ahead, because we want to keep building the world of Ecumene Aztec with your involvement.

Next stop: PAX East and the first improvements

A very intense period is ahead of us - we’re preparing for PAX East, and we’ll be sharing more about that with you very soon! We know your list of suggestions is long, and because of time constraints, we won’t be able to implement everything right away. But we want you to know that the first changes are already making their way into the game. Here’s what we’re improving first to make your adventure more comfortable:

  • Readability and narrative: subtitles will stay on screen longer and appear against a clearer background, so you won’t miss any part of the story.
  • More intuitive controls: we’re improving controller support.
  • Better clarity: we’re drastically reducing the motion blur effect that so many of you pointed out.

New feature: Blood is power

At the same time, we’re developing mechanics that are meant to give Ecumene Aztec its unique identity. One of them is the Blood Power System (though we may still rename it) - a key gameplay element we are currently working on intensively.Blood will be your most valuable resource and the source of superhuman abilities. Every decision - whether to use your power right away or save blood for later - can change how an encounter unfolds. We want this system to affect not only combat, but also tension, pacing, and the way you approach each new challenge. We’ll reveal more soon! But don’t worry - we haven’t forgotten what matters most to us, and to you: portraying the Aztec people and their world with care and respect. We are still researching the history!

What’s next?

The coming weeks will be a time of intense coding and mechanic polishing for us. We invite you to join us on this journey. It’s going to be an exciting one!Follow our updates, add the game to your Wishlist, and let us know how you’d like to see it evolve. Drop by our Discord!
