We will be running a playtest in late September! More details to come, but you will receive early access to the test by signing up at https://valormortis.firstlook.gg/
We just announced Valor Mortis a few days ago. Since then, we’ve seen so many impressions, reactions, and opinions to our new game. But if you want to play the game for yourself, you’ll get that chance very soon.
Many of you are experts of this genre, but there aren’t many examples of combat like this in first-person. That’s why we really want to hear your feedback about how the game feels.
Sometimes, devs host playtests but very little ends up changing before the full release. We want to seriously consider your input as we continue developing this game as a new step in the genre. That’s why we’re letting all of you try the game at such an early stage.
You can sign up at https://valormortis.firstlook.gg/ and through the Steam playtest function.
The playtest will feature a condensed version of the first level of the game. Basic combat styles, a variety of enemies to duel, the first branches of the skill tree, and of course, one big challenging abomination at the end.
You’ll play as William, a young British man who is enraptured by Napoleon’s promise of liberating the continent from draconic monarchies. After leaving your homeland to enlist in the Grande Armée, you meet a swift end in the conquest at the Eastern front.
But death cannot hold you. Awake and somehow breathing once again, you find a horrifying battlefield, littered with bodies, a few of which are upright like yourself. They have been corrupted by a mysterious substance that you’ve heard about in rumours, Nephtoglobin. That same substance seems to have granted you new life and new abilities.
The stage is set for William to master this unnatural power, survive the ruinous battlefields left in Napoleon’s wake, and uncover his role in this horrifying historical timeline.
If you want to play Valor Mortis or keep up with our development updates, please follow and wishlist the game here on Steam. The playtest will be held on Steam and we will be participating in discussion to make the game as good as it can be.
We will also be hosting a Discord community for the playtest and beyond. That will be the fastest way to see development updates and to talk about Valor Mortis with devs and other players.
Finally, a big thank you to everyone who has shown interest in our new game. We know it will be an enormous challenge to pull off a first-person soulslike, but after making two Ghostrunner games with first-person action, we think we can do it.
We are aiming for the end of September. We're currently sharing the game with players at gamescom and we'll take that feedback to prepare for the online playtest.
We will be offering a few days headstart to those that join at https://valormortis.firstlook.gg/
A few days after the first group, players signed up through Steam will be invited to the playtest in incremental waves.

Possibly! We love community feedback and this is our first time doing a test like this. We'll make decisions about more playtests as we continue to develop the game.
