Buyback in Shops

  • After selling items, you now have until the next morning to buy them back at the original selling price. In the shop window, you’ll find a new button that lets you switch between the regular shop view and the buyback view.
Buyback items in shops are not taken into account when saving the game.

Controls

  • The settings menu for assigning buttons has been updated.
Modifiers can now be used during key assignment if desired.
Ability Quickbar Slots can also now be directly assigned to keys.
The default keys for changing the view distance are now Page Up and Page Down.
This adjustment was one of the most traumatizing experiences I’ve had since the beginning of this project.

Improvements

  • In Cozy Mode, you'll now only be teleported if you're not already on your land.
This essentially means you're immortal on your own land.

  • In Hardcore Mode, the night is now your enemy.

  • Preparations have been made for procedurally generated regions.

  • The character's automatic winking animation has been disabled until further notice.
Again, because the change was not correctly applied in the last update.

  • Running and sneaking are no longer toggled by pressing the Shift or Ctrl key while the mouse is over the UI.
For example, while transfering items between chests.

  • The structure placement notification now also shows the key to cancel the preview.
    Usually by right-clicking.

  • The notification when activating build mode to place structures is now less intrusive.

  • The Archaeology tab has been disabled in the crafting window until further notice.

  • Entries in the crafting window can now be triggered by right-clicking either the entry itself or its icon.

  • Entries in the spell window can now be triggered by left-clicking either the entry itself or its icon.

  • Scrolling through the Ability Quickbar now requires that the mouse is not over the UI.

  • Gordon Goldbar now requires a Tear of the Forest instead of forest spirits for his quest.

  • Minigames can now be accessed via a regular menu button in the bottom left corner.
The Doze entry in the bed menu has been removed.

  • The buttons in character creation now feel more interactive.

  • Character left and right orientations restructured.
All animations and clothing for both directions updated.
The character now moves more smoothly.

Fixes

  • Canceling the placement preview with a right-click no longer sometimes additionally triggers the currently selected spell.

  • The rotation of picked-up objects is now always correctly reset when placed down.

Major update5 Sep 2026ArchaeologyArchaeology While testing the game, the archaeology branch was honestly a bit sad to look at. Everything else kept growing, while archaeology literally stayed stuck in the Stone Age. That is why the following adjustments were made to better fit the current state of Onyx. These adjustments also create a nice little loop to finally bring the requested dinos into the game ha. · In larger regions e…In-game event17 Aug 2026GiantsGiants Yeah, that just had to be. The first giant versions of plantable crops have been added. Nobody still knows where Nick gets his weird rarities from, but from time to time (30 %), he may have a bag of these unusual seeds available in his shop. They can also occasionally be found as loot throughout the world. · Giant Carrot (drops a lot of Carrots) · Giant Parsnip (drops a lot of Parsnips)…Game update8 Aug 2026FixesSteamworks integration temporarily disabled due to hiccups. Will be re-enabled in upcoming updates. Many thanks for the reports, Cynthera!
