One week after the announcement, it’s time to move forward.

This time, we’re taking a closer look at our collaboration with 3DZug and giving you a first glimpse into the driver’s cab and passenger interior.

3DZug has been a well-established name in the train simulation scene for many years, known for detailed and technically accurate vehicle implementations. With SubwaySim 2, the team is now working on a much more modern foundation: powered by the Unreal Engine, this project opens up new possibilities both visually and technically, and marks a clear step toward the future.

For SubwaySim 2, this is also a milestone, as the GI/1E becomes the first official third-party DLC created in collaboration with an external developer.

Beyond the technical side, there’s also a personal connection. With Matthias Gose contributing to the project, we have someone closely tied to Berlin – especially the eastern part of the city. This perspective also influenced the choice of vehicle, making the GI/1E a natural fit.

Right now, a major focus is on the driver’s cab and the interior. The goal is to make both areas as authentic as possible – not just in terms of functionality, but also in how they feel. Special attention is being given to wear and tear, with subtle details and imperfections added deliberately to make the vehicle feel more alive.

Next time, we’ll take a closer look at the vehicle’s technical side – because the Gisela has some interesting differences compared to the A3L92. Stay tuned.
