Lynium 2.0.3 — Patch Notes

Lynium: Play the Rhythm · published 13 Aug 2026, 22:14 UTC · build 24720862

2.0.2 made the game fast. 2.0.3 makes it honest. The clock that decides where your notes are is now the same clock that plays the song, your Steam face follows you onto every leaderboard, and the site finally has a board where a score set this afternoon can sit at the top of something.

SYNC FIX

The change you cannot see, and will feel on the first frame spike.

A run used to keep two clocks. One read the song and judged your hits. The other added up wall-clock time, frame by frame, and decided where the notes were drawn. While the machine kept up, they agreed by luck. One stutter and they stopped agreeing — and the drawing clock never caught back up, so the notes stayed out of sync for the rest of the song.

There is one clock now, and the audio is the truth.

  • AFTER A SINGLE SPIKE: up to 291 ms behind, permanently ⇒ nothing lost
  • DRIFT: unbounded ⇒ 4.3 ms average, 16.8 ms at worst
  • HARD RESYNCS: a visible snap whenever it noticed ⇒ zero, across nine measured runs
  • A 451 ms FRAME: half a second of song gone for good ⇒ absorbed

For scale: the MAX window is 50 ms and a miss starts at 175 ms. The old clock could fall six windows behind and stay there.

YOUR STEAM PICTURE, EVERYWHERE

Nine icons used to cover the whole player base. A leaderboard of four people showed the same face four times.

  • IN THE GAME: your profile card on every screen, the beatmap leaderboards, and the results table
  • ON THE SITE: the navigation bar, the rankings, board movement, and your profile
  • NO STEAM ACCOUNT: your equipped icon, exactly as before — the fallback never goes away
  • THE ICON PICKER: nine icons ⇒ your photo as the first cell, selected by default. Picking an icon is how you turn the photo off.

TOP PLAYS

The world rankings sum a career, so the same twenty names hold the top for months. This ranks runs.

  • A FIFTH TAB on the rankings, beside 4K, 7K, Standard and Country
  • 15 BOARDS: five time windows across three key counts, opening on 4K and today
  • EVERY ROW: the player, the chart, its star rating, and the mods the run was set with — because a Hidden run outscores a cleaner one on the same chart
  • THE WHOLE ROW opens the play detail
  • ON THE HOME PAGE: the best five, under the activity charts, opening on the week — and the link under them carries whatever you were looking at into the full board

THE PAUSE CARD

Everything the beatmap knew used to arrive as one sentence, and the sentence was longer than the card. The mapper was always the part that got cut.

  • THE MEASUREMENTS: one run-on line ⇒ seven labelled columns — keys, difficulty, BPM, length, notes, ranked status and source
  • THE MAPPER: last in a clipped join ⇒ Beatmap by X, on a line of its own
  • AN EMPTY COLUMN: a dash ⇒ dropped entirely, and the rest widen to take the space back
  • TITLE AND ARTIST: 46 and 32 px ⇒ 36 and 22, so the numbers have somewhere to live
  • JAPANESE TITLES: boxes ⇒ drawn

SONG SELECTION

  • SET HEADERS: a blank while the cover loaded ⇒ the artwork it already had, until the real one arrives
  • THE BEAT: stopped at the edge of the list ⇒ reaches the covers
  • A BEATMAP SET: drawn its own way ⇒ drawn the way a beatmap is drawn
  • THE LEADERBOARD: lined up with the filters, with the background running to the edges

THE HOME PAGE

  • ONLINE NOW: a number you had to read the label to understand ⇒ the same presence dot the rest of the site uses
  • THE SECTION: "Right now", over a thirty-day chart ⇒ Statistics
  • THE CARD: repeated the live count the tile above already gave ⇒ Players online over time, leading with the last point of the chart, saying which window it is on, and showing the change against the period before
  • PLAYERS: a total that reads the same today and tomorrow ⇒ with this week's new accounts under it, counted from Monday

BUGFIXES

  • Notes no longer drift permanently out of sync with the audio after a frame spike.
  • The hit windows now line up with the notes they belong to.
  • The game no longer judges notes before the song has started.
  • Auto now gets the same offset a real key press gets.
  • The music player finishes changing songs.
  • The Customize button faces the player again, and the game over menu's Customize points at a window that still exists.
  • Weather falls down the screen now, instead of down the world.
  • The progress bar is told about a song it did not have to decode.
  • Cover art announces itself when it finally turns up.
  • The last untranslated strings on the site now read in the reader's language.
  • The home page no longer says the same number twice.
  • Fixes to the results screen.
  • The loading screen has sixty more things to say — and now knows when to say nothing.
