A Fun and Fair Online Racing Experience

At Motocross The Game (MTG) we are dedicated to creating an online experience that is both fair and exciting. By combining real-time telemetry tracking and a detailed ranking system, we bring a unique approach to motocross racing that rewards skill, consistency, and clean competition.

Racing Built on Real-Time Telemetry

Unlike traditional racing games that rely on checkpoints, we will utilize real-time telemetry data to track every move. This system ensures that races are fair for everyone.
Tracks in MTG are built using highly detailed digital maps. These maps define the exact track boundaries and classify areas as on-track or off-track. The game continuously monitors the exact position of each rider’s wheels. If both wheels leave the on-track area, it’s considered an off-track incident.
When an off-track incident takes place, the system calculates “delta time” which compares the rider’s performance to a virtual prediction. If going off-track gives an advantage, a time penalty is applied to level the playing field. For example:

  • Cutting a corner without gaining time earns an incident point but no penalty.
  • Gaining time from cutting a corner adds an incident point and a time penalty to your race result.

All these calculations happen on MTG’s servers, ensuring consistent enforcement of rules for all players.

Real-Time Feedback for Players

We will provide instant in-game notifications for off-track incidents and penalties. This real-time feedback helps players adjust their racing style, keeping the competition fair and focused on skill.

Seasons and Player Progression

MTG operates in 12-week seasons. At the end of each season, players are either promoted or demoted based on their performance. There’s also a special “Week 13” between seasons, where players can enjoy fun events and explore new updates.

Licenses and Categories

Players progress through five licenses: Rookie, Amateur, Pro/Am, Semi-Pro, and Pro. Each license determines which bikes can be used in ranked races.

  • Rookie: 125cc 2-stroke
  • Amateur: 125cc 2-stroke / 250cc 4-stroke
  • Pro/Am and Semi-Pro: 125cc 2-stroke / 250cc 4-stroke / 250cc 2-stroke / 450cc 4-stroke
  • Pro: 250cc 4-stroke / 450cc 4-stroke

You can always practice with any bike you own in practice/non-ranked mode, but ranked competition is tied to your license.

How Clean Racing is Rewarded

Clean Rating (CR) observes how safe and consistent you are during races. Starting at 2.50, your CR can rise as high as 4.99. Mistakes like going off-track, crashing, or making heavy contact with other riders reduce your CR, while clean racing improves it.
To advance your license, you need a CR of 3.00 or higher and must complete enough sessions. If your CR drops below 2.00, you risk being demoted. However, if you achieve a CR above 4.00, you can jump to the next license level immediately without waiting for the season to end.

Race Rating and Competitive Matchmaking

Race Rating (RR) measures your competitiveness and becomes important at higher licenses. It changes based on race results and the skill of your opponents. Finishing better than expected boosts your RR, while weaker performances reduce it.
Each race has a Strength of Field score, which reflects the average RR of all participants. Stronger fields offer more championship points and tougher challenges.

A Balanced and Enjoyable System

This approach combines real-time tracking with a thoughtful ranking system. By focusing on clean racing, race rating, and fair competition, we ensure that every player has a path to improvement. Whether you are aiming to climb the ranks or simply enjoy casual racing, MTG will offer a fun experience for all.
