The Last Sideran · published
This update focuses on making The Last Sideran more colorful, varied, responsive, and fun to replay.
Space environments now use glowing, breathing dark colors instead of relying entirely on black backgrounds. Ships have a brighter neon presentation, and the intro now features a procedural, colorful star-tunnel effect inspired by classic screensavers.
Combat received several improvements:
Weapons begin cycling from Round 2 onward, avoiding repeated choices whenever possible.
Bosses periodically throw random weapon crystals during battle.
Weapon upgrades take priority over shield rewards.
The new Plasma Comet grows as it travels.
The spinning Ring Blade ricochets from asteroids, pierces enemies, and gradually fades with each hit.
Blue lasers now resemble animated sound waves.
Nova destroys all enemies, including jellyfish, and shatters large asteroids into smaller pieces.
Enemy explosions are significantly larger and more satisfying.
Spike enemies perform a full 360-degree spin when hit.
The update also improves progression and usability. Players can now choose when to leave a completed round instead of being forced to collect the remaining blue star essence. Controller navigation works on the final completion screen, fish-swarm messages no longer hide behind Zenia’s portrait, boss ammunition is properly limited, Career Mode access follows premium platform rules, and Career runs always use three lives.
