Fix Update — Joining Works, and Hunters Can Actually Shoot

Peekablock Playtest · published

Joining a game in progress is fixed

If you joined a lobby that was already running, your game could end up blind: stuck on WAITING, no host visible, no build tools, no reticle as a hunter — for the whole session. The cause was that everything the server sent you arrived while your game was still loading the level, and the load then wiped it. Players and the match now survive that handoff, so joining works whenever you press it.

Hunters: your gun works now

  • Fixed the big one — a forged gun could silently fail to publish at the moment the hiding phase ended, leaving you holding a placeholder for the whole hunt. You looked armed, but shots never landed. Your gun now reliably makes it out of the forge.
  • Other players see your real gun instead of a one-cell stub.

Build panel ghosts

  • Getting caught mid-build no longer leaves you frozen in a build pose.
  • The panel that could stick to your screen after a round ended — the one nothing would close, with F opening a second panel behind it — is fixed at all three of its causes.

Results screen

  • The showcase ballot now opens on the actual candidates, and the vote button reads clearly from gray to blue.
  • Likes are per-card toggles now — like as many creations as you want, and change your mind.

Under the hood

Custom match rules resetting between rounds is now instrumented so the next occurrence names its cause, and hunters' shots log full diagnostics if a hit ever fails to register — if something looks wrong, your log file will say why.

Good news on updating

The network protocol did NOT change this time, so you can play with someone still on the previous build.

Please enjoy hunting!
