Playtest Update — Building Where You Aim, and Late Joiners Finally See Your Pain

Peekablock Playtest · published

Late joiners no longer permanently miss part of your paint

If someone joined while you were painting, the strokes you made during that moment were counted as already saved when they were not actually in the image yet — so they were dropped, and that person never saw them for the rest of the session. Nothing you could do would bring them back. Fixed at the source.

Blocks and paint now land where you are actually pointing

The invisible box used to detect what your cursor is over was the full square outline of a block, hollows included. You could therefore "hit" a face that does not exist:

  • The placement ghost fought the real surface and flickered between valid and invalid.
  • Gun-forge blocks snapped to that phantom box instead of the real surface, so pieces landed in the wrong place.
  • Free-hand painting could paint faces nobody clicked on.

All three come from the same cause and are fixed together.

Rotation Lock is now a toggle, not a hold

Hanging still at a chosen angle is the longest thing a hider does, and keeping it used to mean holding the button down for the entire hide while also moving, jumping and crouching. Press it once to freeze your angle, press again to release.

A wide disguise no longer lifts you off the floor

Building outwards rather than upwards made your invisible collision shape extend well below your feet, and the physics engine pushed you up out of the ground to compensate. Wide disguises now sit properly.

Also in this build

  • The waiting area is bigger and now finds you a clear patch of floor instead of a fixed spot someone is already standing on.
  • Forge blocks no longer pile into a single cell when the shape changes underneath them.
  • The game now follows your operating system's language on first launch, falling back to English.

Heads up

The network version did not change, so someone on the previous build can still join you — without any of these fixes. Please make sure everyone updates.

What we most want to know

  • Build against walls, floors and other blocks. Does it go where you aim, every time?
  • Have someone join partway through while you paint, then ask what they see on you.
  • Paint yourself and check a teammate can actually see it. A lot of paint code changed here — tell us if anyone looks plain or unpainted.
  • Build wide rather than tall. Do you stay on the ground?

If something looks wrong, press F12 the moment it happens — it marks that exact instant in your log — then run Collect-Logs.bat and send us the folder.
