Custom Championships, Improved AI and 20-Car Grids

major update

Pretend Cars Racing 2 · published · build 23591109

The June update has grown well beyond its original scope. Alongside the addition of Custom Championships—including support for user-created content—Version 0.7 introduces major improvements to AI behavior and race grids.

The biggest change is a substantial overhaul of the AI. Computer-controlled drivers now have a much better awareness of their surroundings—not just other cars, but also track limits—allowing them to make smarter overtaking decisions and avoid unnecessary collisions. Race starts have also been improved, resulting in cleaner launches and more competitive opening laps.

While the AI will continue to evolve, its current state has made it possible to significantly increase grid sizes in both single-class and multi-class races. You can now race with up to 20 cars on track at once. While things can still get a little chaotic from time to time, full-grid races with dynamic day-night transitions are more exciting, challenging, and immersive than ever.

Custom Championships allow you to create your own racing season exactly the way you want it. Build championships using official content, community-made tracks, or a combination of both, and create the racing calendar that best suits your style.

This update also includes the following changes:

  • Completely redesigned the options menu, now organized into categories

  • Added an option to make nights darker

  • Added 3 new Cup Car liveries

  • Track Creator: added support for sand traps

  • Track Creator: tracks can now be rotated 180°

What Comes Next?

Only one major update remains before the full release. Work has already begun on Career Mode, where you'll build your journey from an aspiring sim racer to a legend of the sport.

This feature requires significant behind-the-scenes changes as well as a large amount of new art and content, so development will take longer than previous updates. In the meantime, smaller improvements, fixes, and community-requested features will continue to arrive before Version 0.9 is ready for you to try.
