Chefs! This one is all about feel — reading the pan, riding the streak, and never losing your meatball under the UI again. Straight from your feedback, straight into the sauce. 🧑🍳
🔫 Combat & Feel
- ⚡ Beam weapons reworked — beams now build heat and overheat like a reload, with a proper soft sizzle sound instead of the old drone. Manage the heat, melt the horde.
- 🎯 Reload ring on your meatball — the active-reload bar now draws right above your meatball, so you can nail the perfect reload without looking away from the fight.
- 🎬 No more constant grey screen — hit-stop and bullet-time effects now have proper cooldowns, so big crit chains keep the punch without the permanent slow-mo strobe.
- 👁️ UI cutout — when your meatball rolls under HUD panels, a slick dithered hole is cut in the UI so you never lose sight of yourself mid-swarm.
- 📷 Locked camera option — new setting to keep your meatball dead-centre on screen at all times.
🔥 Streaks
- 🧨 Streak fuse — a burning fuse bar now shows exactly how long your streak has left, with a shake when damage snuffs it out.
- 🛡️ Wave 1 mercy — streak bosses like the Prep Cook no longer crash your very first wave. From wave 2 onward, all bets are off.
🍳 The Kitchen
- 🖱️ Mouse grinding fixed — clicking now works for grinding the mince.
- 🎮 Controller fix — you can now actually reach the "Grind the Mince" button on a gamepad.
- 🌶️ Spice picking made easy — spices can be pre-selected, so no more burning your batch while fumbling for the paprika.
- 📦 Ingredient parcels — cooking ingredients now drop as pickups during waves (visually distinct parcels), not just at the wave's end. Same ratios, way more satisfying.
🐛 Fixes & Extras
- 🏆 "Dressed for Service" (own 10 hats) now unlocks properly on Steam if you'd earned it in-game.
- 🎓 Tutorial READY prompts — shooting sections now wait for you to be ready instead of talking at you mid-firefight.
- 🚀 Bullet-storm performance — capped runaway explosion effects and loot pile-ups, so end-game piercing-explosive builds stay smooth.
- 👑 New title: "Lex the Lekka" — lekker.
- 📊 Anonymous run stats can now be shared to help us balance the game — you can opt out anytime in Settings.
