Spellfall: Last Mage Standing Playtest · published
The Spellfall: Last Mage Standing store was recently updated with new assets including capsule images, trailer, and game description. Based on your feedback of the new assets this update focuses on camera and lighting improvements.
The camera distance for Spellfall has been reduced from 2400 to 1950. Players will no longer be looking down from the orbit as their teeny mages hurl spells at each other. This new camera distance maintains visibility of the arena for strategic positioning, aiming, and dodging, while also providing a closer view to your mage - including your cosmetic selections!
Players also no longer need to lurk in the dark shadows lighting up the arena with their fireballs. Shadows and overall lighting have been improved to reduce their harsh contrast on the arena floor.
The screenshots below showcase the differences between the new and old camera and shadows. The shadows can primarily be noticed on the walls on the left side of both images. You'll likely find the camera distance is minor in order to still provide situational awareness of spells within the arena.
Since opening the playtest in late December 2025 the game has seen numerous improvements across the UI, item and ability tuning, networking and matchmaking issues, and even enhancements to the arena.
The last few updates have primarily focused on minor bug fixes and game optimization. The core gameplay loop for Spellfall is now in full effect allowing players to queue for a match, draft their favorite spells, and fight over five rounds to be the last mage standing.
Hopefully you've been able to enjoy Spellfall vs. the automatic bot backfills or brought some friends along to queue against. But, given every PVP game lives or dies based on it's community, we're ready to move on to the next stage: Open public playtest with coordinated matchmaking sessions.
