Spellfall Update 0.5.9 - Let's add melee

Spellfall: Last Mage Standing Playtest · published

This update incorporates recent playtest feedback looking for more melee oriented build options. Round 1's Titan's Strike, a lesser selected ability, has been replaced with Stone Cleave.

Stone Cleave is a wide close range melee cleave that can hit multiple enemies. The ability retains Titan's Strike mechanics by applying a defense down debuff to the hit player while increasing the caster's defense resistance. This mechanic was already very well suited for melee to offset the risk of getting in to close proximity of your opponents.

Stone Cleave synergizes well with already existing Spellfall abilities. For example, Round 2 offers Whirling Winds generating a speed boost to stick on your target or Terra Lance bursting players after the Defense Resistance debuff has been applied.

It's a brand new way to play and may require some tuning, so please share your feedback as you have the chance to try out this new ability!

Additional patch notes:

  • Stone cleave introduced as a round 1 ability replacing Titan's Strike. On hit effects reduced to 2% for both enemy def resist debuff and caster def. resist buff, stacking up to 5 times. Duration reduced for 3 seconds.
  • Terra Lance defensive resistance buff reduced from 25% to 20% to balance the bonuses provided by Stone cleave.
  • Titan's Revenge no longer applies a defensive bonus on hit. Defense resistance debuff has been reduced to 2 seconds. This retains the fantasy of the ability by allowing successful chain hits to increase damage.
  • Fixed an issue where sound settings did not immediately apply causing volume to begin at default settings then quickly adjust to custom settings.
