Not Quite Dead : Development Update Trailers, Prison Rework & More

On Steam

Hey survivors!

I’ve been working on a lot of new content, improvements, and fixes for Not Quite Dead, and I wanted to give you a look at what has been added and what has changed recently.

This update focuses on expanding the world, improving the prison area, adding new weapons, introducing the trailer building system, improving the tutorial, and making the southern part of the map feel much more unique.

Prison Area Rework

The prison area has received a major overhaul.

I wanted this location to feel much more dangerous and memorable, rather than just being another place to explore.

Changes include:

  • Improved and expanded the prison area.

  • Added new NPCs.

  • Removed Rampage from the area.

  • Added a new Mech robot boss.

  • The Rocket Launcher can now drop from the Mech boss.

  • Added stronger zombies around the prison.

  • Removed the previous prison entrance.

  • Added more walls and environmental details.

  • Reworked the area to feel much more like a dystopian city.

The prison should now be a much more dangerous location, but also a more rewarding one to explore.

Trailer Building System

One of the biggest new additions is the ability to build your own mobile base on a trailer.

You can place Floors on the trailer platform and then continue building with other construction pieces such as:

  • Walls

  • Chests

  • Door Frames

  • Doors

  • Floors extending outside the platform

  • And more building pieces

The goal is to let players create their own small mobile survival base and take it with them around the island.

Support for multiple trailer types is also being added.

Trailer Recovery

If your trailer flips over while driving, you no longer have to abandon your mobile base.

Stand beside the trailer and press Z to flip it back upright.

Your buildings remain attached, allowing you to recover the trailer and continue your journey.

Tutorial Improvements

The tutorial has also been updated to explain the new trailer system.

Players are now shown:

  • How to attach a trailer to a truck.

  • How to build Floors on the trailer platform.

  • How to expand their mobile base with Walls, Chests, Door Frames, Doors, and other structures.

  • How to use Z to flip a trailer back upright.

This should make the new system much easier to understand when using it for the first time.

New Weapons & Loot

More weapons are being added to the world.

  • The Rocket Launcher can now be obtained as a boss drop from the new prison Mech.

I want special locations and difficult enemies to continue giving players meaningful reasons to explore and fight.

More Salvage Around the Map

More vehicles have been added around the map that can be salvaged for metal.

This should give players more opportunities to gather metal while exploring instead of relying on only a few specific locations.

Southern Map Improvements

The entire southern section of the map has received new ground textures.

The south is being transformed into a much more distinct desert region, helping it feel visually different from the greener northern areas of the island.

More work will continue in this region over time.

Ukrainian Localization

Ukrainian is being added to the language selection.

Not Quite Dead already supports multiple languages, and I want to continue making the game accessible to more players around the world.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where Left Click could occasionally become blocked or stop responding.

More fixes and improvements will continue as I go through player reports and feedback.

What’s Next?

My current focus is continuing to improve the existing game while fixing bugs and polishing the experience.

The trailer system especially opens up some really fun possibilities for players who want to build their own mobile survival home.

As always, thank you to everyone who is playing, leaving reviews, reporting bugs, posting suggestions, and helping improve Not Quite Dead.

I read a lot of your feedback, and it genuinely helps decide what needs attention next.

Thank you for supporting Not Quite Dead! ❤️

See you on the island, survivors!
