Playto Cloud (beta) — translation in the cloud, off your GPU

Local AI stays the default and works fully offline. Playto Cloud is a new optional engine for machines where local AI struggles: not enough VRAM next to the game, older GPUs, or engine startup trouble. While it's on, translation runs through our cloud relay instead of your GPU.

How to use it

  • Activate — open Cloud from the side menu and press Enable. It activates through your Steam account; no sign-up, no API key.
  • Select the engine — Settings → Engine → choose Playto Cloud.
  • Play as usual — start capture the same way as before. Translations come from the cloud while Cloud is active.
  • Check your balance — the Cloud tab shows how much of your credit remains.
  • When credits run out — Playto falls back to the local engine automatically, and tells you once instead of failing silently.

Free trial credits

Activating gives your Steam account a one-time bundle of free credits — several thousand lines of translation, roughly one to two hours of play depending on the game. The credits are valid for 14 days from activation. This is a beta, so how Cloud is offered may change as we learn from it.

A note on privacy

Cloud is strictly opt-in. Only while it's active, captured text is sent to our relay and a cloud AI provider for translation. Local mode keeps working fully offline, and nothing changes unless you enable Cloud yourself.

Fixes in this update

  • Furigana — readings above Japanese words were missing in installed builds because dictionary files were not shipped correctly. They now appear across the Log, Words, Sentences, Review and Practice.
  • Overlay position — a custom overlay position no longer snaps back to the bottom placement.
  • Free edition word limit — reaching the 100-word wordbook limit now shows a clear notice instead of silently skipping saves.
