“In Clockfall, death is not the enemy. Wasted time is.”
Hello everyone,
We are back with a look behind the scenes of Clockfall, our dark fantasy action RPG roguelite.
We could talk about the combat, the bosses, or the village defense. And sure, you will have your hands full down in those dungeons. But honestly, all of it grew out of one small idea we could not let go of.
What if time, not gold, not loot, was the most valuable thing you had?
That question became the heart of Clockfall. Every run, every choice carries a quiet price: do you spend what you have to grow stronger, or buy yourself one more minute to push a little deeper? More power, or more time.
But look a little closer and the line between them vanishes.
“Power is spent time. Time is unspent power. Same coin, and the clock decides how it lands.”
It is a simple idea, but it is the one we cared about, and it shapes nearly everything in the game.
We did not invent any of this. We are fans of stories that play with time, and we took our cues from the best of them. Films like Groundhog Day and Edge of Tomorrow, where reliving the same moments slowly becomes a weapon. Games like Hades, for how it makes a repeated run feel like progress. Dead Cells, for turning failure into learning. Outer Wilds and Majora's Mask, built around a loop you slowly learn to outsmart.
They all circle the same question: if you had one more chance, what would you do with it? Clockfall is our small attempt at an answer.
“Gold can be earned back. Power can be rebuilt. Time only moves in one direction.”
Clockfall was never meant to be deep. We just wanted to make something fun. You might give it an evening. We gave it months.
We all get the same resource. Time.
Some spend it chasing power.
Some spend it chasing comfort.
Some spend it chasing meaning.
Clockfall ends up quietly asking the same thing life asks all of us:
How will you spend the time you have been given? If you have read this far, you have spent a little of it on us. That means a lot.
