Two new weapon attachments have been added: the Holographic Sight and the Hunting Scope. Optics now have their own dedicated slot, meaning a weapon can carry a sight alongside a silencer and laser.
Only one optic can be fitted at a time. Installing a Hunting Scope will remove any Holographic Sight already attached, and vice versa.
The Holographic Sight is built for quick target acquisition. It fits the M4, Tan M4, MG1, SMG and Pistol, providing a small accuracy improvement without adding any inventory weight or taking up additional space.
The Hunting Scope is restricted to rifles: the M4, Tan M4 and MG1. It provides the largest accuracy improvement of any attachment currently in the game and makes precise hits much easier at range, but comes with a slower rate of fire and less responsive handling.
The Hunting Scope also increases the weapon's overall size and occupies one inventory cell while attached.
The Scrap Pistol cannot use either optic. It is built from welded-together salvage and has no mounting rail for attachments.
Scoped rifles now fire instantly
With a Hunting Scope fitted, bullets no longer have travel time. The shot lands immediately where the weapon was aimed when the trigger was pulled.
This means distant moving targets no longer need to be led while using a scoped rifle.
World collision still applies. Walls, buildings and other solid objects will continue to block shots normally.
Everything else about the projectile remains unchanged, including critical hits, bleeding, damage calculations and weapon audio.
Optics use their own reticles
Equipping an optic now replaces the weapon's normal crosshair with one designed specifically for that sight.
The Holographic Sight uses its own close-range reticle, while the Hunting Scope switches to a dedicated scoped view for longer-range shots.
Removing the optic restores the weapon's normal crosshair.
Weapons can now spawn with attachments
Weapons found during raids are no longer guaranteed to be completely bare. The people carrying them had lives before you found them, and some of them modified their weapons along the way.
This applies to weapons found both on enemies and inside loot containers.
Most weapons will still spawn without attachments, but higher-quality weapons have a better chance of appearing already modified.
Lasers are the most common attachment to find already fitted. Holographic Sights are less common, silencers are rarer, and finding a rifle already equipped with a Hunting Scope is exceptionally uncommon.
Attachments found on weapons are fully removable. Take one off and it becomes a normal item that can be stored, sold, or fitted to another compatible weapon.
Both new optics can also appear as loose loot, including on better-equipped scavs, Screamers and Kolt, who has access to some of the best equipment currently available.
Dropped weapons show their attachments
Weapons lying on the ground now visually display the attachments actually fitted to them.
The same assembled weapon appearance shown in your inventory and equipment slots is now used in the world, so a suppressed or scoped rifle dropped during a fight will visibly look like one.
Fixes
Fixed an issue where the weapon display could incorrectly show a silencer on every gun regardless of whether one was actually equipped.
Weapon visuals now correctly reflect the attachments currently fitted to the weapon in your hands.
Fixed an error that could occur when attaching or removing a weapon part during a co-op session.
