Along with the release of the demo, there are a lot of updates as well! The main focus has been to polish the early parts of the game, largely based on the feedback from our wonderful playtesters <3
On top of that, we're also introducing the first major antagonist faction of the game:
Few know exactly how long the ring has been broken for, but scholars agree that it happened at least a few centuries ago. At some point between now and then, it seems there was a division, where a faction split off to live in the cold. We don't know much about what happens in the darkness, but at times they have emerged to raid our villages, revealing a pale-skinned crowd, and even the occasional gigantism.
As you start a new game, you can now choose how you want to be guided: a full tutorial, some quick pointers, or nothing at all. This way, different people can get into the game smoothly, regardless of if they are fresh to the genre, or if this is their 13th playthrough on the ring.
Summarizing all the changes in one post is impossible, but here are some highlights:
The culture trees are overhauled, both visually and gameplay wise
You can now fertilize the ground, using organic matter produced from compost or restrooms
Combat has been reworked, with more extensive logging
Flag has been reworked to be a defensive building
Maypoles are now where you can host berry festivals for morale
Golden age effect when morale is greater than 80%
A lot of bugfixes
A lot of UI work, exposing more relevant information, and overall aesthetic cleanup
A lot of audio work, adding more SFX around the game, and some new music
We're very excited to see what people think about the demo!
See you around
