Two New Outposts, New Cards and Gear — Hold-Ring Defence and a Sharper Endless Mode

Update 1.972 brings two new outposts, new cards and gear, hold-ring defence, and Endless improvements. Three returning outposts also receive adjustments, linking five stops on your vigil; whether you’ve tried the demo or have us wishlisted, gather your squad for another march.

Two New Outposts

The Felled Woods — Choose a forest route toward Ash Mouth. Footsteps build Commotion; campfires calm it and restore health. Fill the bar and a corpse tide surges along the road. Follow Ash Mouth’s campfire marker, light the fire, hold through the rear-guard countdown, and bring every Captain into the ring behind a semicircular line facing the dead.

Night Without Walls — Without palisades, divide your squad among three rings to the north, east, and south. Groups keep coming until dawn, growing larger on nights two and three. Night three brings the Broken Stele General, making nearby dead more dangerous. Ring and following soldiers share one troop limit; visible total and ring counts help you plan deployments.

Hold-Ring Defence

A new way to hold the night: place soldiers into the rings by day; they lock at nightfall and can be adjusted again at dawn. Ring troops hold and do not chase; only those following their Captain chase. Night Without Walls asks you to split your soldiers among three rings. In Endless the rings stand around the keep, the line grows night after night while the keep still raises soldiers, and the previous dusk previews the next night’s main attack.

New Cards and Gear

Discover 21 new cards: 15 class play cards and 6 weapon inscriptions. Fan your arrows, damage enemies along your roll, or leave an explosion where you blinked from. Find your way to hold the night.

12 new gear pieces bring the total to 24. Butcher Cleaver strengthens your next strike after a kill; Bonegrip Bracers heal you on melee hits; Pyre Arrows pierce one additional enemy; March Drums speed up soldiers following their Captain.

Starting gear comes with an elemental brand, and matching weapons offer in-run inscriptions. Slaughter Blood, Lantern Watch, and Standard Muster add new combinations to equipment bonds.

Returning Outpost Adjustments

First Alarm — Gather by day and defend the keep at night as before. Soldiers follow more smoothly through crowds, easing trips between the treeline and your defenses.

Blood Moon Hunt — Between hunts, supply cards explain defense repairs more clearly, helping you plan during each lull; dedicated music carries you into the next assault.

The Bursting Front — As you sortie against siege engines, cleaner ordinary attacks and retained landing warnings help you spot threats approaching your line.

Endless Improvements

In Endless the rings stand around the keep, set by day and locked at nightfall. The line grows night after night while the keep still raises soldiers.

The vigil ledger asks you to light and upgrade a campfire and to deploy one hold line, then shares Bone Shards when both are done. The materials exchange gives resources another use, and the Ossuary market offers permanent training; each siege-engine type has a per-night limit.

When the Bone Gatherer arrives, each player’s trade panel opens after card choices and other panels close. Dismiss it with the close button or Esc; it also closes at nightfall. In solo or co-op, trading keeps the world moving while pausing the deathly-silence countdown for up to a minute. Music continues through card choices and panels.

Squad Feel and Co-op

Soldiers catch up through crowds; archers and musketeers hold position to fire at enemies in range. Large battles run more efficiently, and multiplayer connections are more stable. Soldiers breathe, brace, flinch, and fall with weight. Card effects and hit areas read more clearly; ordinary attacks use sparks and blood, while siege warnings remain.

Armory and Music

The Armory has larger, clearer text and icons: four slots, one item per row, equipment comparisons, and readable build bonds. Tracks crossfade; core tracks play their opening before looping. Night Without Walls and Blood Moon Hunt each have dedicated day and night themes.

Everyone in a multiplayer group needs to update to this version to play together.

This is the build we plan to show at Steam Next Fest. Play the demo, wishlist the game, and tell us how your run went with F8 in-game.
