💽 Patch Notes — v0.6.19

New

  • Red Horizon — a new Warrior ability. Marks an entire row and sweeps it on your next turn, with a combo that climbs steeply the longer the chain runs.
  • Season — a new Cook ability. Marks a tile for 1.5x damage for the rest of the round and 1.15x through the next. On food or gold it doubles the value instead, and cast as a chain link it keeps the chain alive as if it had been a kill.
  • Plague Jar — a new Shadow ability. Lobs a jar onto the enemy side that bursts contagion over everything around it every time it is hit, and shatters into a toxic cloud on the third. Shove it into a pack and let them break it for you.
  • Food left uncollected when you win drags a plague rat into the next battle — one per piece.
  • Overkill pays: a killing blow that lands well past a victim's remaining health banks an Attack gem.
  • Coup de Gravy's food tier now scales with overkill — the harder the finisher, the better the meal it drops.

Changed

  • Contagion reworked. It no longer spreads when its carrier dies; instead each hit stacks a plague (up to 5, each stack raising damage taken) and the holder bursts it onto every enemy around them on their next turn. Stacks decay a round at a time, and a fresh infection always survives long enough to burst.
  • Chain-kill gems now pay on every third kill of a cascade — the 3rd, 6th, 9th — instead of every kill past the second. Long cascades were minting gems far too fast.
  • Goblin mech fists now only shrug off 1-damage chip, so a light directional flurry like Tsuppari walks the hand back up the board.
  • Hovering an enemy shows its statuses, and the health bar has moved down onto the tile with its text centred inside.
  • Slime merges now combine the statuses on both slimes instead of wiping them, and the larger slime animates eating the smaller.
  • Player selection is back on the centred portrait picker for swaps and chain / counter prompts.
  • New effects throughout: contagion bursts bloom from their source and infected enemies visibly seep, Season has its own buff and debuff effects, and Red Horizon telegraphs with a falling mountain.

Fixed

  • Kuzushi's Off Balance now sticks to the target rather than the tile, so it can't be dodged by the same kick that shoved them off it.
  • Strike-then-shove abilities — Backstab, Stab, Bash and their charged forms — no longer push a goblin mech fist twice in one blow.
  • An ability committed on a chain window can no longer resolve in the same round it was committed, which let the commitment cost you nothing.
  • The cooking pot's spill now lands inside the blow that caused it, so a chain is never offered in a fight that has already been won.
  • Noxious weed bursts and boss-segment hits resolve inside the attack instead of a frame late, keeping chain windows on the main path.
  • The campfire room's cooking pot is no longer missing from release builds.
  • Turn-order ability icons can no longer linger over portraits that aren't there.
