Questing through the Downbelow

Hello, Tamers! We're a bit late on the weekly update this week, but that's because we posted our first devblog yesterday!! Today we talk about the quests in Temtem: Pioneers

Quests, like in most games, will be the main system to guide you forward and help you advance in your Downbelow story. It’s sometimes daunting to find oneself in such a large world without a goal, but quests can help you feel a sense of direction until you create goals of your own. You’ll find main quests, which must be completed to further progress, and side quests, which are optional, but all of them will be beneficial to complete!

Some quests will be divided into steps, which are actions to complete before the quest can be marked complete. Some steps must be achieved in order, while others will not require you to follow any order.
You will come across quests naturally as you explore the Downbelow, as you advance through the game, and from a few other sources, one of them being our next subject: Dr. Sasaya.

In a situation like the one you’ll be in, stranded in an unknown place, a familiar voice means everything. From the banged-up remains of a radio comes a voice you recognize from the Archipelago: Dr. Sasaya.

This brilliant Neoedo scientist and Dojo Master will become your one point of contact with the islands, and an invaluable guide and aide during your Downbelow journey.
From giving you goals, to helping you understand this new world, to even sharing new recipes for you to build with the resources you find down there, Dr. Sasaya’s helping voice will become a beacon in your scary, but exciting predicament.

The other important concept that will influence your progression across the Downbelow are the already-mentioned Trinkets.
Trinkets are unique, small objects that you can equip and carry. They’re shaped like little charms that might pass off as decoration, but they hold great relevance, as they’re required to gain access to certain biomes, and to enable synergies with Temtem!

Like we mentioned in the Bosses update, bosses guard certain biomes, both physically and quest-wise. Gather the resources they provide upon defeat, then craft the required Trinket and equip it to gain access to new areas and unlock new depths to your Downbelow journey.

Synergies, for those new to the Temtem universe, are improved versions of Techniques that your Temtem can unlock if you’re carrying the pertinent Trinket.

You can craft Trinkets in the Trinket Workshop, and Trinkets can be swapped around or stored there according to your current needs. There’s a few slots for Trinkets on your player, with some slots being for progression Trinkets, and some for Synergy Trinkets. You can always carry all of the progression Trinkets, and as you progress and improve you’ll be able to carry more and more of the Synergy Trinkets.

Witty Dr. Sasaya will be the one to give you access to Trinkets by sharing the first recipe with you, allowing you to unlock more and more of the untamed, beautiful Downbelow!

We hope you’re excited to discover all the missions the Downbelow has to offer, and to meet Dr. Sasaya again!

And if you can, add Temtem: Pioneers to your Steam or Epic Games Store wishlist! It's the next best thing after backing our Kickstarter campaign :)
