Building Your Shop, Your Way

Posted by: That One Guy Loki from That One Game Studio

Hey everyone,

This month's update is all about giving you more ways to make your shop feel like your own while also expanding the day to day management side of running a Pocket Racer business.

From decorating your walls and floors, to hiring employees, to dealing with your weekly rent collector, there's plenty of new content to dive into.

Renovate Your Shop

The RENOMATE app has received a major expansion.

You can now purchase:

  • Wall textures

  • Floor textures

  • Ceiling textures

Alongside these new options is a brand new Decorator Clipboard that allows you to apply your chosen styles throughout the shop which can be opened from the RENOMATE app.

Whether you're aiming for a clean modern hobby store, a cozy neighborhood race shop, or something completely unique, you now have much more control over the overall aesthetic of your space.

This is just the beginning of the customization systems I have planned, but it's exciting to finally start putting more creative control into the player's hands.

Hiring Your First Employee

Running a growing shop by yourself can be a lot of work.

To help with that, I've added a brand new STAFFROOM app to your tablet.

The first available position is a Cashier, allowing you to bring on some extra help and spend less time standing behind the register.

This is the first step toward a larger employee system. Additional staff positions are planned for future updates.

Weekly Rent Collection

Every successful business has expenses.

Pocket Racer Shop Sim now features a new weekly rent system, but I wanted to do something a little more memorable than clicking a simple "Pay Rent" button.

Instead, your local Yakuza representative will personally stop by to collect what's owed.

As long as you've got the money ready, everything should go smoothly.

Probably.

Shopper Hosted Races

The race scene is getting more active.

Shoppers can now host their own races instead of just solo races, giving players another opportunity to jump into competition throughout the day.

These races work similarly to player hosted races and help make the world feel more alive as racers gather to test their builds.

Winner Takes All

Race payouts have also been completely reworked.

Previously, race winners always received a flat payout.

Now racers contribute to a prize pool through track entry fees, and the winner takes home the entire pot.

This creates much more interesting decisions when setting up races:

  • Higher entry fees create larger payouts

  • Set the fee too high and shoppers may decide it's not worth entering

The result is a more dynamic risk versus reward system, especially when racing against friends.

Feeling confident in your build? Raise the stakes.

Just don't be surprised if someone else drives away with the winnings.

Looking Ahead

This update continues the push toward making Pocket Racer Shop Sim feel like a living hobby shop rather than just a collection of systems.

Players now have more ways to customize their store, automate daily operations, participate in races, and manage the business side of things.

As always, thank you for following development and sharing your feedback.

Feel free to leave your thoughts in the discussion section, and if you haven't already, be sure to wishlist the game.

More updates soon.
