Backroom Update

Posted by: That One Guy Loki from That One Game Studio

The highlight of this update is the new Car Collection Display Wall in the Staff Area but I also sprinkled in some other features as well that I'm excited to dive into. Before we do I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has given the demo a play this last week and I appreciate all the feedback I have received which has helped shape this update.

Staff Area Car Collection Display Wall

This is something i have put off for far too long but I really wanted to take your car collection and visualize in the shop instead of only being able to see it at a workbench or via the Backroom App. Now on the car shelves above the Staff Area Workbench any car you collect is displayed there. The cars can be rearranged or pulled off the shelf to take into the shop floor to sell on a stand or add to a display case. Most importantly this gives a fun way to show off your collection to your friends by being able to see all the cars at once.

Place Cat in Bed

This felt like a necessary feature that was just overlooked but once you purchase a cat bed and you are holding the cat you can now place it in its bed.

Open/Close Cash Register

Next up is the ability to open or close a cash register. The idea came from a streamer's feedback by the name of WumboJeff (definitely go checkout his channel). He wanted to have a second register that he could open up when the lines get busy to help his hired cashier out and when the rush dies back down he could close the register so the rest of the traffic goes to the cashier instead. I had never considered this feature before and loved the idea.

Yakuza Demand Transparency

Of all the feedback I got this may have been the most consistently talked about one but the way the Yakuza used to work was they would show up and demand a percentage of your week's revenue. My intent was to make this a bit of a surprise for how much they offer but in hindsight that made it incredibly frustrating to plan for. I have since changed this to be flat rates based on your Shop's Rating and it locks in 3 days before they show up so it can be far more predictable of what they will demand. I also updated the Daily Summary to now display the "Expected Demand".

Misc Changes and Fixes

  • Unlocking the Staff Area Online Fulfillment Kiosk starts with 1 active order immediately

  • Fixed quitting the game while moving furniture saved it in that location ignoring placement checks

  • Fixed Cash Register behind Tablet UI was hijacking interaction clicks

  • Shoppers now throw things away in trash cans some times and others are still litter bugs

  • Adjusted Basic Sellable Car Stand level requirement to level 2

  • Adjusted Better Sellable Car Stand level requirement to level 5

  • Renamed Workbench Order Box to Better Workbench Order Box

  • Fixed moving placed basic race track on new save bug

  • Fixed firing cashier mid checkout breaks customer

  • Player's now have to put the body back onto the car when helping customers replace parts

Thank You

If you managed to read this far I Just wanted to say thank you. Making this game and getting to the demo launch has been a rollercoaster of emotions and challenges but I'm so excited with all the feedback so far.

If you are just discovering the game or have been playing the demo and have not wishlisted consider doing so to keep up with the development of the game.

I'll see you in the next update!
