Hey everyone,
Another update is already here!
One thing I've been focusing on lately is giving you more reasons to actually interact with your shoppers. Running a Pocket Racer shop shouldn't just be about keeping the shelves stocked and ringing people up. You're also the person everyone comes to when they need some Pocket Racer expertise.
This update introduces a new way to help shoppers directly at your Workbenches, along with an entirely new way to grow your business through online orders.
Shoppers can now come to your Workbenches looking for help with their cars.
You'll currently encounter two different types of requests.
Sometimes a shopper has picked up a brand new car kit but needs a little help putting everything together.
They'll bring their new kit over to the Workbench and ask you to assemble the car for them.
Put your tinkering skills to work, finish the build, and you'll earn some extra money along with a very happy new Pocket Racer owner.
Other shoppers may arrive with a car that's seen better days.
When something breaks, they'll bring the car to your Workbench and ask for help replacing the damaged part.
Get them back up and running and you'll once again earn some extra cash while improving that shopper's satisfaction with your store.
These interactions are a small but important step toward making shoppers feel like actual hobbyists instead of simply customers walking through the store.
They buy cars, they race them, they break them and sometimes they need the local expert to bail them out.
That's you.
Your local customers aren't the only people interested in what you're selling anymore.
A new Online Fulfillment Kiosk can now be unlocked through a Staff Room upgrade, opening your shop up to online orders.
New orders will become available for you to review and accept. Once you've taken an order, it's up to you to fulfill it.
You'll need to:
Find the requested products on your shop floor
Place items into the shipping box
Close up the completed order
Apply the shipping label
Send it on its way and collect your payment
It's another way to earn money from the inventory you're already stocking, while adding a completely different task to juggle during the day.
I want running the shop to involve more than watching customers browse while you manage inventory in the background. There should be little opportunities throughout the day where something grabs your attention and gives you a reason to jump in.
A shopper needs help with their new car.
An online order needs packing.
Someone is waiting at the register.
The shelves need restocking.
A race is about to start.
As these systems continue coming together, the shop is starting to develop the busy little rhythm I've been aiming for.
As always, thank you for playing, sharing feedback, and following development. If you've got thoughts on the new systems, I'd love to hear them in the discussion section.
And if you're just discovering Pocket Racer Shop Sim, consider adding it to your wishlist to follow along as development continues.
I'll see you in the next update!
