September 9 - AcrePilot Closing Authority Fix

Another AcrePilot closing fix is live.

A few players were still able to reach the final step of a valid acquisition, choose their closing terms, and then get the generic:

“The requested negotiation action could not be completed from the current authoritative state.”

This was a different edge case from the ones corrected in the previous updates.

I tracked this one down using an affected player’s actual save.

The problem was in how the closing system associated the current settlement with older negotiation receipts. A save can legitimately contain completed deals, withdrawals, and previous negotiations. In a specific state, an older ordinary receipt could be mistaken for evidence belonging to the current closing.

The game correctly refused to make a partial or uncertain transaction, which protected the save, but the result was that a completely valid purchase could get stuck at the final Close the Deal step.

That has been corrected.

WHAT CHANGED

• Valid accepted acquisitions can now complete when older negotiation and withdrawal receipts exist in the same save.
• All-cash and financed closings preserve the exact accepted terms and settlement identity.
• Existing 1031 exchange evidence, credits, allocations, tax basis, and deferred gain checks remain strict.
• Duplicate and stale closing actions remain blocked so a purchase cannot be charged or created twice.
• Existing saves and already-accepted deals are supported.

I tested this against the current export from a player who was still stuck after the previous patch.

On the previous public build, their surviving accepted deal reached final closing and returned the authoritative-state error.

On this build, that same accepted deal completed normally, saved successfully, and remained completed after export and relaunch.

I also tested the correction through all-cash, financed, 1031, save/reload, and repeated-action paths in the packaged Windows build.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO START OVER

If you are currently stuck on an accepted AcrePilot deal:

1. Let Steam download the latest update.
2. Open the same save.
3. Return to the existing accepted negotiation and try the closing again.

You should not need to withdraw the deal, reroll the property, or restart your campaign.

If it still fails after this update, please let me know. A screenshot is useful and an exported save is even better.

Thank you again to everyone who has been willing to send saves and screenshots. These long-running campaigns are uncovering edge cases that would be extremely difficult to reproduce artificially, and they are making the game better.

A few players were still running into two frustrating AcrePilot problems after the last closing update: • a valid property purchase could still fail with the generic “authoritative state” message; and • Preview / Continue to Financing could sometimes appear to do nothing. They turned out to be two separate issues hiding behind similar symptoms. After the August 31 AcrePilot hotfix, a few players were still able to hit the same generic “authoritative state” error even though they had enough money to close the deal. Once I started tracing those saves, it turned out there were a couple of deeper issues underneath that same message. The biggest one involve…
