Auriel, the Seer
A thousand years before the founding of the Kingdom of Sacner, there lived a man named Auriel, known today as The Seer. After preaching the existence of a single Glorious deity, instead of the official pantheon of the time, he was arrested by soldiers of the Old Empire and tied to a mast in the desert, left to bake in the sun. Instead, Auriel stared directly at the incandescent star, receiving visions from his God.
After four days of this, Auriel was executed by dismemberment, with each piece of his body being put on display. His four most faithful disciples, however, stole the pieces of their savior’s body and escaped into exile. For their service, they ascended into the four Forlorn, riders who now await the call to end the world.
