RentPoly 1.0.17 Optimization Patch Notes

Hi, everyone.

We've been shipping various optimization patches recently, primarily focused on preventing the game from crashing. We've received reports that, on some devices, trying to handle too many tenants within a single frame could consistently cause the game to crash. Because of this, our recent optimization patches have been focused on preventing those situations from occurring.

With today's patch, our main focus has been improving stability and overall smoothness when dealing with thousands upon thousands of tenants. Here's a screenshot of one such extreme case.

In previous versions, it took several seconds to remove all tenants from the board when exiting the shop, and then several more seconds to recreate them afterward. With the latest Patch 1.0.17, that time has been reduced to roughly 1 / 10 of what it was before, while also keeping the frame rate much more stable.

Over the past two weeks, we've nearly rebuilt the game's underlying systems to support tenant counts far beyond what we originally expected players to reach. At this point, I don't see much room for further optimization, as unrendered tenants are now about as lightweight as they can possibly be. Hopefully, these changes make Endless Mode much smoother and more enjoyable to play.

Other changes:

  • Increased the rent generation ramping speed after reaching several thousand tenants.

  • Fixed an issue where food items could be consumed while in the shop under certain conditions.

While combined with certain tool and property combinations, they can still cause issues but the game should handle overflow better by capping the limit at the maximum possible value. The maximum number of tenants that can be created on a single tile can be set from infinite to certain thresholds, which can help you finish a run if you somehow manage to amass more than millions of tenants. Please note that moving tenants can still cause a tile to go over this max capacity, and this feature is only recommended for players who are experie…
