This update continues the push toward a cleaner, more consistent Context Panel experience while fixing several Item, Portal, crafting and Unit interaction issues.
⏭️ TURN SKIP Context Panel Overhaul
TURN SKIP targeting has been moved fully into the Context Panel.
- TURN SKIP now opens through the normal USE ITEM flow instead of relying on a separate target-selection popup.
- Choose the target team first, then select the individual player.
- Only teams currently represented in the match are displayed.
- Forfeited players are automatically excluded from targeting.
- Disconnected players remain visible where appropriate but cannot be selected.
- The same Context Panel workflow is now used for both retained TURN SKIP Event cards and the Field Shop version.
- BACK navigation now behaves consistently throughout the nested menu:
- Player selection → Team selection
- Team selection → USE ITEM
- USE ITEM → Previous turn menu
🌀 Portal Interaction Improvements
Portal landings have been integrated more cleanly into the Context Panel.
- Portal travel is now accessed through a dedicated PORTALS submenu.
- Players can use otherwise valid Items while resolving an active Portal landing.
- USE ITEM is shown alongside Portal options when applicable.
- A BACK option allows you to return from Portal destinations without committing to travel.
- Portal routes are revalidated when selected to ensure costs and availability are still valid.
- Paid and Free Portal Card travel continue to use their existing authoritative travel rules.
🔄 Straight Swap Fixes
Several issues affecting STRAIGHT SWAP have been corrected.
- Using STRAIGHT SWAP from a stacked crafted Item now consumes exactly one copy instead of mishandling the stack.
- Your inventory now updates immediately after a successful swap.
- Cancelled or failed swaps do not consume the Item.
- Upgrade levels now transfer correctly when swapping between standard Units and Town/Libya Units.
- The Town/Libya Basic tier is correctly treated as the equivalent of Copper when moving between the different upgrade tracks.
- Silver, Gold and same-track swaps continue to retain their expected upgrade level.
📦 ITEM CRATE Shop Fix
- Fixed ITEM CRATE failing to activate correctly while already interacting with a Shop.
- ITEM CRATE can now resolve correctly on normal Shop landings, including the Black Market.
- Its random Shop stock reward no longer interferes with an Event chain waiting behind the current Shop interaction.
- Inventory consumption, statistics and Shop stock refresh now remain synchronized after activation.
- Existing Exhibition ITEM CRATE behaviour remains supported.
⭐ Upgrade Wish Fixes
- UPGRADE WISH targeting now correctly allows selection of any owned Unit that can currently be upgraded.
- Fixed Context Panel target selection not always resolving the chosen Unit correctly.
- Normal upgrade costs and regional Gold Element restrictions continue to apply.
🛠️ Improved Fort & Master Lock Crafting
Crafting now handles equivalent resources across multiple inventory sources more reliably.
- FORT can now use qualifying Shields from both standard held Items and retained Event Items.
- MASTER LOCK can similarly use Locks across both inventory sources.
- Recipes can combine resources from the two sources when required.
- Crafting verifies the full recipe before committing consumption, preventing partial resource loss when a craft cannot complete.
- Consumed retained Event cards and normal inventory Items now synchronize correctly after crafting.
🐎 Horse Kick Fix
- Fixed Horse Kick Context Panel targeting so the selected player is now reliably passed into the effect.
- Successful selections once again resolve and execute the intended Horse Kick action.
🔧 Additional Improvements
- Further Context Panel consistency improvements across nested Item interactions.
- Additional inventory synchronization and validation improvements.
- Retired internal compatibility/cleanup tooling removed.
- Project version updated to 0.5.4 Alpha.
Thank you for continuing to test MISFORTUNATE during Alpha!
