Update v1.2 focuses heavily on monster behaviour, quality-of-life improvements, localization, backpack fixes, story consistency, and various issues reported since v1.1.Some of the biggest changes include:
Major improvements to the monster's locker, tunnel, rock, burrow, and chase behaviour.
Further improvements to translations across the game.
Faster and smoother lighter and torch controls.
Improved backpack navigation and fixes.
Increased stamina and faster stamina recovery.
Improved note scaling and persistence.
Several story and environmental adjustments.
Multiple fixes for skip prompts, cutscenes, and lower frame rates.
Due to progression, backpack, AI, and world changes in v1.2, existing save files may not work correctly with this update.Starting a New Game is strongly recommended after updating to v1.2.You can continue using an older save, but progression, objects, triggers, notes, monster behaviour, or other parts of the game may behave incorrectly and the game might fully break. Please do not report on this.Full patch log:
The monster no longer searches the locker you're hiding in unless it's 100% sure it saw you enter.
The monster will now always find and kill you if it clearly sees you enter a locker. Additional visibility checks have been added to make sure this detection remains fair.
Fixed the monster's response to thrown rocks. It now investigates them properly without abandoning higher-priority events such as an active chase or generator activation.
Improved the monster's tunnel inspections. It now looks inside and examines tunnel entrances, especially after seeing the player enter one.
Fixed most abrupt transitions between the monster's standing and crouching animations.
Added safeguards to recover the monster if it despawns, glitches, or falls out of the map. It can now relocate to a valid location and continue hunting.
Fixed floor alignment issues that could leave the monster incorrectly tilted while crouching.
Increased the chance of the monster attempting to destroy a locker.
Increased how often the monster mimics voices by reducing the distance required between the monster and player.
Slightly increased player stamina and improved its recovery speed.
Reduced the lighter's fuel consumption rate by 5%.
Pressing F now instantly equips or unequips your lighter or torch instead of using the previous delay.
Lighters and torches can now be equipped or unequipped using F while running.
Many interactions, including ladders, cellar doors, and the gravekeeper cinematic, no longer unequip your held item.
Item tutorials no longer repeat after entering the mines, except for the lighter tutorial.
Fixed a bug where dying while crouched could cause the player to respawn crouched while moving at normal walking speed.
Added wraparound backpack navigation. Press A while on the first item to jump to the last, or D while on the last item to return to the first.
Fixed backpack prompts briefly cycling through incorrect instructions before displaying the correct action.
Fixed a major issue where certain triggers during the forest chapter could cause the backpack to open sideways with a broken camera view.
Further adjusted note layouts to prevent text from being cut off on smaller screens.
Notes that have already been picked up no longer respawn.
Reworked many translations to improve accuracy, preserve context, and make sentences sound more natural.
Fixed updated v1.1 notes displaying their old v1.0 text when opened from the backpack.
Removed several player voice lines when inspecting incorrect graves to avoid revealing what the player is looking for.
Removed two player reactions to notes in the barn that didn't fit the intended story.
Made the player's tent larger and changed its colour to better distinguish it from the girlfriend's tent and fit the intended story.
Added a lamp beside the well to make it easier to spot.
Added flies throughout the mines to better support the story and atmosphere.
Fixed an issue where the bench used during the forest intro couldn't be interacted with afterward unless the checkpoint was reloaded.
Fixed skip circles being frame rate dependent. Skip duration is now consistent regardless of frame rate.
Fixed skip circles accidentally skipping story sequences when tabbing out of the game or when the game loses focus.
Changed skip circle prompts from "Press" to "Hold" to better communicate the required input.
Added a notice to the store page confirming that all in-game music was created by our team and can be featured in streams, videos, and other creator content.
