GodWright v2.0.0 - The World Remembers

Most god games let you play with a world. In GodWright, the world now watches you back. Every villager who sees you act reacts on the spot, and every village keeps its own opinion of you: how much it believes, how much it loves you, and how much it fears you.

They See You

  • Villagers who witness a power react immediately: they kneel in the rain you send and run from the fire you drop.

  • Hearts, alarm, anger and doubt appear over their heads, and prayer-light rises from the faithful.

  • Your deeds earn you a name. Bring rain and they call you the Gentle Rain. Rain fire and you become the Burning Sky. There are 39 titles to earn.

  • A new strip under the calendar shows your title and your believers. Click it for the full Reputation panel.

Idols, Prayers and Pilgrims

  • Devout towns raise an idol to you: radiant gold if they love you, weathered stone if they are unsure, dread obsidian if they fear you.

  • At night, idols send up pillars of light and the faithful walk to them to pray.

  • Villages pray to you by name when they are hungry, sick, under attack, or at war. Answer them and their love grows. Ignore them and they begin to doubt.

  • New prayer: Smite our enemies. A town at war asks you to strike its enemy.

  • New power: Revelation. A pillar of light that shows yourself to your people. Faith rises, heresy fades, no one is harmed.

Push Them Too Far

  • Terror without love turns to heresy. A town can renounce you and tear down your idol.

  • A Godslayer rises from among the people who survived your wrath or lost someone to it, and marches on your idols. The first killing blows glance off.

  • Villagers remember what you did to them personally. Inspect anyone to see it: "Survived your fire (year 1)".

  • Someone you blessed may become your prophet and preach your name to neighbouring towns.

A Rival God

  • Towns that renounce you are claimed by a rival deity with a name of its own.

  • It raises its own void idols, whispers doubt into your faithful towns, curses them, and blesses its followers.

  • It speaks. It will taunt you by name in the event log.

  • Let it grow too strong and it steals your title. You become the Forgotten until your believers outnumber its heretics again.

  • Win towns back with Revelation, blessings, or holy war. Leave it with no one to hear it, and the world is yours alone.

Speak Your Law

  • New Commandments tab: choose one law for the world.

  • Thou shalt not make war: devout towns make peace. It also serves as a truce with the rival god.

  • Make holy war on the heretics: devout towns march on the rival's followers. A broken heretic town yields and kneels to you once more.

  • Be fruitful and multiply: devout towns are blessed with plenty.

  • The devout obey. The doubters defy you, and drift toward heresy.

The World Keeps the Scars

  • Great deeds name the land: Ashfall, The Drowned Vale, Voidscar, The Ruin of Haven, Godslayer's Fall. Names appear on the map like a fantasy atlas.

  • Your Saga: read the story of your reign, written out as it happened.

  • Save as picture: export your Saga beside a map of your world, ready to share.

  • Devout towns sometimes name their children after your deeds.

  • The soundtrack now follows your reputation.

  • New Faith Fill map overlay shows which towns are faithful, fearful, doubting, or heretic.

A Better First Hour

  • New guided chapter, The god they cannot see, introduces the relationship with your people.

  • The main menu is now a living town worshipping its god.

  • Wildfires no longer burn whole continents into permanent dirt in the first minutes. Grass fires depend on how dry the land is, and burned land regrows.

  • Rebalanced population growth: young villages grow quickly, large cities settle to a sustainable pace.

  • Fewer animals flooding the map, and animal births no longer fill the event log.

  • Achievements appear as a compact card instead of a banner across the screen.

  • Zoom now centers on the cursor, left-drag pans the map, and the camera no longer drifts past the world's edge.

New Look

  • New natural terrain palette with hill shading, so mountains and valleys have real shape.

  • Autumn and winter no longer wash out the map; snow settles on high ground first.

  • New terrain brush icons.

Also New

  • 8 new achievements, including Beloved, The Heretic's Challenge, Deicide Denied and Twilight of a False God.

  • All new text is available in all 10 supported languages.

  • Existing saves still load. Worlds from earlier versions begin with a clean reputation.

Be a loving god, a feared one, or a forgotten one. Your world will not forget which.
