GodWright v1.3.1 is now live!

This update makes the history of every world easier to discover and follow, while bringing smarter battles, more dramatic disasters, sturdier settlements, and major performance improvements for large civilizations and fast-forward play.

Stories Worth Following

  • Structured Chronicle stories: Related events are now grouped into War, Reign, Dynasty, Disaster, and Invasion stories.
  • Searchable history: Search Chronicle records by text, day range, kingdom, settlement, figure, or player-caused event.
  • Event navigation: Click linked entries in the event feed or Chronicle to jump directly to a person, settlement, army, or event location. If the subject is gone, the camera returns to its last known location.
  • Expanded Chronicle: History capacity has increased from 256 to 1,024 entries, with major events and bookmarks protected when old routine records are removed.
  • Bookmarks: Right-click individual events or complete stories to preserve them for later.
  • Clearer categories: Filter history across Realms, People, War, Disasters, Divine actions, Eras, and Other events.

Favorites Watch

  • Added a dedicated Favorites Watchlist, opened with the configurable comma shortcut or the unread WATCH indicator.
  • Receive alerts for births, deaths, coronations, marriages, migrations, wars, disasters, transformations, major injuries, achievements, and other important events involving favorite people and settlements.
  • Choose whether critical favorite events continue normally, slow the simulation to 1x, or pause it completely.
  • View an alert, follow a living subject, jump to a last-known location, or dismiss it directly from the Watchlist.
  • Favorite identities remain tracked through transformations, and watch settings, alerts, read status, and locations persist across saves.

Legends, Memorials & Lasting History

  • Added a persistent Legend Archive for rulers, champions, prophets, elders, and favorited figures, including those who have died.
  • Legend records preserve roles, homes, relationships, reigns, wars, deeds, transformations, authored books, artifacts, and death details.
  • Notable Figures now includes searchable Live and Archive tabs with direct navigation to living figures and last-known locations.
  • Fallen legends can leave permanent memorials, including ruler statues, champion graves, prophet halls, and Chronicle memorials.
  • Death reports now distinguish causes such as old age, combat, disease, starvation, cold, disasters, and divine intervention.
  • Added the Zombie Plague power. Nearby humanlike creatures become infected and transform after a short incubation, while pending infections and delayed corpse rises persist through save and load.

Smarter Battles & Portal Invasions

  • Portal invaders now form coordinated groups that advance on reachable settlements or defending armies instead of scattering after wildlife.
  • Invasion groups navigate around blocked terrain, retaliate against attackers, and select a new objective when their target is destroyed.
  • Multiple invasions retain separate objectives, and invasion strategy now survives saving and loading.
  • Combatants prioritize immediate attackers and hostile armies over lesser threats.
  • Ground units no longer pursue targets across impassable water or lava, while creatures naturally able to cross water retain that ability.
  • Hunters and predators abandon endless pursuits, pause before retargeting, and spread across available prey instead of piling onto one animal.
  • Improved protection against accidental attacks on allied and neutral villagers, vehicles, and ships.
  • Trolls now attack their selected target, and ordinary wildlife can no longer receive the Immortal trait.

Tornadoes Reworked

  • Tornadoes now persist longer, wander across the landscape, and rebound from map edges instead of following a short straight path.
  • Their destruction follows the visible funnel, carving a readable corridor through buildings, vegetation, and terrain.
  • Nearby creatures are pushed and swirled by distance-based force and damage, making direct hits deadly without automatically erasing entire crowds.
  • Expanded debris, dust trails, pressure waves, camera motion, and smoother touchdown and lift-off effects.
  • Tornadoes can cross coastlines without replacing water and now freeze correctly while the game is paused.

Black Holes Reworked

  • Black holes now unfold through an eight-second growth, peak, and collapse sequence instead of applying their full effect instantly.
  • A broad gravitational field pulls creatures, soldiers, animals, and vehicles toward a smaller lethal core.
  • The expanding core progressively consumes terrain and structures, leaving a bounded dry stone crater.
  • Added large-scale event-horizon distortion, spiraling matter, lensing rings, camera shake, and a bright collapse shockwave.
  • Up to four black holes can remain active at once, and active black holes now freeze while paused.

Tank Warfare Improved

  • Tanks now hold fire while marching and engage only after their army enters combat.
  • They correctly target commanded enemy factions, fight hostile tanks, avoid allies and neutrals, and stop pursuing targets across impassable water.
  • Tank shells now deal controlled hostile-only splash damage around their primary target.
  • Building bombardment has been rebalanced so each ready tank contributes one additional shell instead of multiplying an army's entire attack.
  • Added shell tracers, impact bursts, shockwaves, cannon fire, mechanical death explosions, aiming turrets, and village-colored hulls.
  • Vehicle inspection now reports ownership and current activity, including Marching, Engaging, Firing, and Standing Down.

Faster, More Reliable Worlds

  • Improved performance in high-population worlds, especially those containing many settlements or large battles.
  • Improved 8x fast-forward performance by reducing repeated simulation work while preserving the intended speed of society, settlements, fire, ash, and ruins.
  • Improved rendering performance in dense cities and at mid-range map zoom while keeping heroes, notable figures, wildlife, and other important units visible.
  • Reduced crowd, herd, predator, target-search, and settlement-processing costs in busy regions.
  • Settlements can now clear forest, jungle, and enchanted-grove tiles when they need space for wells, farms, homes, civic buildings, and wonders.
  • New settlements and colonies begin with enough race-appropriate materials to establish their first homes, preventing isolated or resource-poor communities from stalling.

Save Compatibility & Localization

  • Existing worlds remain supported and begin recording the new history systems after loading.
  • Chronicle stories, bookmarks, legends, wars, artifacts, memorials, favorite alerts, invasion objectives, and pending zombie transformations persist across saves.
  • Localized interface text has been updated across every shipped language for the new history and watch features.

Thank you for playing GodWright and helping shape its future.
