Hi everyone! 🌊⛵
I’ve seen several players in the demo asking in the in-game chat:
“Is there online multiplayer? So far I’ve only played with bots.”
Yes! Battles and Regattas are fully online, and you can play against real players.
I can already see in the server statistics that real multiplayer sessions are running every day, especially during the more active hours.
If you’re playing the demo before Early Access, keep in mind that the current player pool is naturally limited. With the Early Access release on September 30, the game will open to a much larger potential pool of players.
Players online are not necessarily searching for the same match at the same time.
Imagine 100 captains are playing: some are building ships, some are exploring Around Island, others are entering Regattas — and you decide to enter an Online Battle.
To meet there, other captains from your region need to choose the same mode at roughly the same time.
That’s why bots can fill the remaining places — so you can start sailing and fighting instead of waiting indefinitely.
The in-game chat has two modes: Region and Global.
Global lets you communicate with players from everywhere, while Region connects you with players from your multiplayer region — the players you will normally meet in online games.
Looking for a Battle or Regatta? Just send:
“Anyone up for a Battle at 19:00 CET?”
or:
“Regatta in 10 minutes?”
Other captains can see your message and enter matchmaking at roughly the same time, making it much easier to meet each other online.
So if you’re looking for real opponents, send a signal in your Region chat and call other captains to battle! 🏴☠️
See you at sea! 🌊⛵
