Update #45: Let the Mana Flow

Hello,

First Dwarves, Mech Pilots, Dragon Friends, Co-op Tinkerers, Survival Strategists, and wonderfully creative Colony Builders!

Update #45 is here, and this time we’re giving your mana network a new toy to play with: Mana Transmitters.

Mana Transmitter

It’s a new building that expands how mana pipelines work. Mana Transmitters can pass energy between each other and power nearby buildings within their range. This means you can now arrange your mana pipelines in a cleaner, more intentional way and reduce the number of pipes running through the middle of your colony like someone dropped a bowl of glowing spaghetti.

Of course, mana pipelines are not going anywhere. You still need to power the Mana Transmitter somehow. And mana pipeline nodes remain very useful as mana charging stations for Mechs. So knowing you, we fully expect to see some very creative uses of both systems together.

We’ve also added quick building demolition in Build Mode. When placing a building, you can now remove objects that collide with it right away. And if you hold the demolition button, you can keep moving across the area and clear things as you go. It should make rebuilding, reorganizing, and fixing your past architectural decisions much smoother.

Another nice improvement is the upgraded Character Selection Wheel. It got a visual refresh and is now much easier to read, especially in co-op. Character icons are colored based on each player, so you can quickly see who is controlling whom. In online co-op, Steam nicknames are now displayed under the players’ icons too, making the whole thing clearer at a glance.

As always, this update also includes many smaller improvements, fixes, and changes suggested by our community. You’ll find the full list below in the release notes.

Full Changelog Update #45:

Highlights:

  • NEW Structure: Mana Transmitter, available to unlock in the second guild at Technology Level 3.
  • NEW Quick Delete option available in the Build Menu. Hold R while hovering over a structure, tree, or harvestable rock to quickly destroy it.
  • The Character Selection Wheel now displays Steam nicknames for you and your friends during online co-op play.
  • Players can now switch characters at any time.
  • Improved the Character Selection Wheel by highlighting the current characters for both players with player colors.
  • Added an outline in the Character Selection Wheel to indicate which character or Mech you are currently controlling.
  • Crafting menus now display how many of each item you have in your inventory.

Bugfixes:

  • Removed a UI bug while flying the Airship, where a black gradient appeared at the bottom of the screen.
  • Fixed an issue where the Anchor Spot or Port details window could remain visible while traveling by Airship after control was transferred to the host.
  • Fixed an issue where mouse hover interactions could stop working in split-screen mode after the second player opened the in-game menu.
  • Fixed an issue where inventory scrolling with a gamepad did not work in split-screen mode for the second player.

And one more thing: First Dwarf has now been in Early Access for two years.

Two years, 45 updates, and an average of almost two game updates per month. We are still here, still building, still improving, and still reading your feedback, reports, ideas, complaints, memes, and occasional emotional support messages for Ragna.

Alongside the planned development of the game, we keep adding improvements and fixes suggested by our players, because you are actively helping us shape the world of First Dwarf.

So, seriously: thank you!

Now let the mana flow!

* Star Drifters Team
