Developer Notes

Over the past week, Cory and I have been taking in the feedback and trying to make changes to make the game more fun. We believe we have done that over the past 7 patches and we owe a huge THANK YOU to you for sharing your ideas, bug reports, and feedback. So please keep it coming, we want this game to be fun! Please consider leaving a Steam review, it really helps indie devs like us a lot!Today's patch is aimed at making the game play smoother on controllers as well as cleaning up the translations. Steam is reviewing the game for Steam Deck Verification, many of the changes in this patch are aimed at trying to get Steam Deck Verified and we will make changes based on their review.

As always thank you for playing our game (or games if you've played our other games) making video games is truly a dream come true for both Cory and myself and we can't thank you enough for playing our game.

Cheers,
Andy (Aarimous)

Patch Notes 1.1.3

Controller Support

  • When using a controller

    • You now get a bit of aim assist so that it feels a bit easier to target an enemy

    • Once you target and enemy it will “lock on” to the enemy unless you adjust the aim via the right stick.

      • This can be turned off in settings if you want

  • Added in controller specific control glyphs when you first start playing

  • Update the settings screen so it can be properly used via a controller

Steam Deck Changes

  • Steam is reviewing the game for Steam Deck Verification, many of the changes in this patch are aimed at trying to get Steam Deck Verified and we will make changes based on their review.

  • Added text scaling and updated many in game labels to use this new system

    • On Steam Deck this will default to 130% so it's more readable

Miscellaneous

  • When the player is a 1 health left they the player will now start to pulse

    • This will only happen once the max hearts is greater than 1

  • Added some green particles that will appear when a player takes damage from non-bullet sources (like AOE effects)

    • Goal here is to make it more clear when the player takes damage

  • Fixed the cloud save so it will now work across Windows, Steam Deck, Linux, and MacOS

    • Please let us know if you are still having issues with this

  • Updated translations and added in missing ones

  • Updated the play other modes buttons on the game over screen

  • Added the title and made by to the game over screen

  • Update the wording for the quests that want you to destroy X tiles to use the word “Destory” instead of “Smash”

Feedback and Ideas

Please let us know if you still feel any pain points, while Orb Breaker is inherently a skill based game we also want to make sure you are properly challenged.

How to reach us?

This patch is aimed at doing another round of system changes and balancing based on player feedback. This time around we focused on power ups, enemy spawning, and tuning the costs/locations of upgrades on the tree. This marks the 9th patch we've released since the game launched last week and we believe the game is in a much better state than it was on launch.
