Today we’re diving into one of the new gameplay systems coming to Smalland 2: Lost Realms. This is a highly requested feature, and sharp-eyed players may have already spotted it in the June reveal trailer.
Today we’re discussing...
Climbing is a freeform locomotion system that changes how you navigate the world. Smallfolk can scale certain surfaces in any direction with no fixed anchor points or predetermined routes. Find a climbable surface and go.
The tiny scale allows the Smallfolk climbing abilities that would be nearly impossible at human size thanks to physics-based logic. In addition to cliff faces, players can climb steep overhangs and even ceilings.
Climbing consumes stamina, just like sprinting and jumping. Run out at the wrong moment and you could lose your grip. Smart route planning and careful stamina management are essential, but they’re only the beginning. Use consumables, craft specialized gear, and unlock powerful perks to enhance your climbing and push beyond your limits.
The climbing system enhances vertical traversal and is made even more dynamic by Smalland 2’s new responsive world. Plants become pathways, and leaves can be used to bounce higher and reach otherwise inaccessible places.
Combine climbing with tools like grappling hooks and gliders to move through the world in a multitude of ways. Chain abilities together, adapt to your surroundings, and find your own path to new heights.
That’s our first system overview. Questions? Drop them in Discord or the Steam discussions and we’ll answer what we can.
We’re looking forward to showing you more of Smalland 2 soon. Thanks for the continued support.
