Welcome to this week’s Engine Room Dev Update, where we’ll be going through the 0.2.9 patch, which contains new custom difficulty sliders for enemies, a slider for ISO yield and a new auto feeder item you can craft!
We’ve also taken a pass at the Glider Handling, so please make sure to give us feedback on how that feels! We’re also going to be adding mouse control (and the ability to invert the controls for the Glider) in a future patch. You can see more about our plans in our Trello here: https://trello.com/b/0MIQ3LJ6/everrail-development-roadmap
Alongside that there’s our usual range of bug fixes and balance changes. We’re only able to fix so much so quickly because of the wonderful feedback we get from all of you, so please keep reporting bugs and sending us feedback!
Before we go into the detail of the patch, we’d also like to remind you all that as part of our participation in this week’s Steam PVE Survival Crafting Fest, not only is EverRail 20% off, but we’re also holding a community competition called The Hoarder! Find out more in our Discord!
Here’s the full Patch Notes for this week’s patch:
Note: New games now start with a minimum of 4 wagons, as starting with fewer wagons meant the glider catcher was missing from the train.
Added a damage multiplier slider for robot enemies
Added enemy health and enemy magazine size sliders
Added an Iso yield per wisp slider
New Auto Feeder I item, craftable in the Lab
Automatically reduces your hunger once it reaches 75 while the item sits in an active toolbelt, using up one durability per feed
Food items now carry Auto-Feed traits, so a wider range of rations can be consumed automatically
Glider launching now detects tunnels much more reliably, including tunnels close ahead and tunnels above the catcher and launcher wagons
Better performance while flying the glider
The glider is now hidden on the loadout station while you are in flight
Spider drones of tier 02, 03 and 05 now fire in real bursts instead of a single shot every four seconds
Shielded spider drones are no longer immune to gunfire
EMP weapons scale into the late game again, and the four EMP tools now sit on distinct effect levels instead of pistol and rifle being identical
Wisps now react to the approaching train from further ahead
The build menu cursor now shows a hover state for items you cannot place yet
Removed pipes that blocked building inside the train
Train interior surfaces no longer look flat due to a broken normal calculation
Cleaned up grid textures and materials and reduced their memory footprint
The supervisor desk light no longer dazzles players standing in front of it
Fast travel now always puts you down facing the same direction, with a consistent camera direction at the destination hatch
Writable signs now hold up to 240 characters and accept letters from all supported languages
Renamed "Iso anomaly" to "Iso Wisp" across all languages
The turret stunned state now shows a proper localized label
Removed idle background processing for a world feature that is currently switched off
Fixed automatic saving overwriting save slots you created yourself
Fixed save timestamps being wrong because the local time offset was applied twice
Fixed dropping and picking up an item repairing it
Fixed Iso and ration pickups being lost
Fixed a glider floating in the air after dismantling the Glider Loadout Station
Fixed the glider loadout building sharing its inventory with the glider launcher building
Fixed boxes in front of dungeons not being synced for clients
Fixed rifles and other held items staying visible and floating on an invisible character after entering the train
Fixed the host being shot and killed by a client after using Unstuck - Teleport to Train
Fixed Nanopolymer crafting not working
Fixed Alt-Tab in the graphics settings menu marking resolution and screen mode as changed
Fixed a render thread crash
Removed a leftover debug sphere on the train repair objective marker
And that’s everything for this week! As always, please keep sending us your reports and feedback, either on Steam in our Discussion threads, on Discord in our dedicated channels or in game using the F2 Bug Report tool.
