Welcome back to another Engine Room Dev Update, the latest in our weekly updates to EverRail! This week we’re back with changes to the glider launch station, fixes to our mission and tutorial system, as well as fixes for several bugs which you’ve all brought to our attention!
We want to thank you all for the feedback and the bug reports you continue to send in. We read all of them, and we take them all on board, and your ideas are constantly a source of inspiration to us! Please keep sending them, either here on Steam in our discussions, on Discord in our dedicated channels or in game using the F2 Bug Reporter!
We’ll also take this chance to remind you all about our Trello, where we’re constantly updating our plans for development and including your feedback, and you can see what our plans for EverRail are! You can find the Trello here: https://trello.com/b/0MIQ3LJ6/everrail-development-roadmap
Now, without further ado, here are the 0.2.7 Patch Notes:
New: Hunger
We have explained the hunger setting better now with a tooltip and inverted how the slider works in the settings.
New: Glider Launch Station
The Glider Launch Hatch has been visually redesigned to better imply that you are flying the Glider (and die on destruction) instead of it being an unmanned drone
Glider inventories accept glider equipment and upgrades only, not everything anymore
New: Bug Reports With Save Data
Bug reports now attach your savegame and your settings to help us investigate issues
New: Frame Rate Limit Settings
The frame rate limit is now two settings: one to turn it on and one to set the value
New: Death Reasons
The death screen shows more reasons for your death that fit the situation
In multiplayer, when a player dies for one reason and there are no passengers left, the other players will see that reason for game over instead of the reason for why the other player died (causing confusion)
Improved: Audio
Sound effects follow your audio settings
Voice lines never play louder than the master volume
New snow displacement sounds with more variety and a better mix
The 3 different Drones, Craftable inside the Glider Fabricator had their weird costs (50 Scrap, 100 scrap etc) overhauled and you now craft 10 in one go
The T3 Prow Scan 3 cost has been fixed
Improved: Missions And Tutorials
Missions no longer stall after the first run of a step
Prerequisite steps no longer fire twice or complete a mission too early
Hint popups appear in the correct order and stay dismissible
Objective markers no longer point into the void while you are inside the train
Train repair objectives complete at 90 percent repair, not after the first repair pulse
The train tutorial shows input icons in all languages, not English key labels
EMP guidance is split into separate robot and turret popups with new images
New stunned text and reworked train repair text
Improved: Glider
Glider crashes are detected reliably on all terrain
A crash no longer triggers a double explosion
Improved: Level Traversal
Improvements of railings and fences of several locations to support vaulting or clearly block traversal
Minimap fixed and improved for several locations
The tech fabricator no longer lets you fall behind the crafting station
Improved: Storage And Crafting
Storage buildings have fitting Slot Counts based on their size, making larger Storage Buildings at least as or even more efficient as smaller ones (This led to quite the amount for the Huge Storage )
Tracked recipes are visible inside the Crafting Screen (Work in Progress) - Showing your pinned recipes and the total materials you still need right there in the crafting menu
Improved: Settings And Controls
Mouse right-click closes the building menu and the crafting menu again
The control settings screen is clearer to use
Alt+Tab no longer opens the unsaved changes popup in the settings menu
The scanner range is always visible
Bugfixes
Glider toolbelt items no longer reset when you swap gliders at the loadout station
The food distribution timer will now show properly after the tutorial has been completed
Fixed several issues with the derailment fail-safe train tool
Fixed drones that did not despawn after a scan finished or failed
Fixed lost resources when a client cancels a queued crafting item
Returned resources drop to the ground when your inventory is full
Fixed the loss of an item in progress of being crafted when you load a savegame
Custom maximum battery settings restore correctly from savegames
Tracking several items no longer shows oversized tracking information
Iso fuel collection resets correctly
Fixed missing textures and images on storage and glider loadout buildings
Enemies no longer stay standing after they should have died
Fixed a crash from a threading race in world generation (game and engine side)
Fixed Scrapper tool will appearing alongside the pistol after consuming all the scrapper tool charges
Fixed toolbelt functionality no longer working for the client and requiring a game restart
