It’s not the feedback I wanted to hear, but it was feedback I needed to hear.
Players were spending too much time managing inventory and navigating menus — and not enough time actually playing the game.
So the latest update takes a big swing at fixing that.
Your backpack now has 50% more storage at every upgrade level, and I’ve moved a feature I was originally saving for Region 2 into the first region. And you can craft it early...
The Resource Uplink lets you build and craft using resources from both your backpack and storage crates. That means you can stockpile more resources around your base.
The inventory menus themselves also got a major usability pass:
Inventories can now be sorted
Food and water can be consumed directly from any inventory where they appear
Store All and Take All controls let you transfer multiple items between your backpack and storage with a single press of a button
The goal is simple: less time organizing stuff, more time playing the game.
And I don’t want any of this feedback to sound negative, because the response to the demo has been incredible.
More than 6,000 players have played the demo in just two weeks, and you guys are playing deep. Median playtime is already almost double that of my previous game (Night Stones) and Project Tomorrow still only has one region available.
I’m incredibly pumped by how much people are enjoying the demo, and it keeps getting better because of your feedback.
These updates have taken some time away from Region 2, but it’s coming and it’s coming soon.
You may have noticed that I quietly removed flying enemies from the first region.
There’s a reason for that.
They come back with a vengeance in Region 2.
Flying enemies can soar directly over your defenses and their highest priority is taking out you turrets. Be prepared.
Fortunately, two new turrets are coming your way to deal with the new enemy behavior and the considerably larger number of enemies heading toward your base.
Region 2 also introduces several of the systems I’ve been teasing already, including food production, water production, and drones that automatically collect resources for you.
Thanks for being my favorite terraformers on the planet. I appreciate every one of you tremendously, and I’m incredibly grateful that you’re helping me make Project Tomorrow the best game I can.
Thank you!
Ryan
