Rules of the Inn is a first-person horror game about surviving seven nights by keeping seven rules.
A free demo is coming soon.

What the demo covers

  • Night One through Night Three - the stretch where the rules arrive one at a time.
  • Nights where keeping the rules saves you, and nights where something will kill you for obeying. You get both.
  • Japanese, English and Simplified Chinese.

Why it stops at Night Three

Nights One to Three are where you learn the rules, one by one.
And by Night Three, at least one thing that kills you for obeying is guaranteed to appear.
If you get that far, you know exactly what kind of game this is.
From Night Four onward those exceptions really start to pile up, so we kept them for the full game.

We will announce the release here

When the demo goes live, we will post about it here. Follow us and you will get a notification.

The full game is planned for 5 November 2026.
Add it to your wishlist and Steam will tell you when it launches.

Streaming and video

I love watching Let's Plays! Coverage of the demo alone is just as welcome.
You do not need to avoid spoilers, and you may monetise your video. See "Streaming, Video and Let's Play Policy" on the store page for details.

In-game event23 Sep 2026Demo updated - how the rules break, controls spelled out, the ledger centredThe demo (nights one to three) has been updated. This is the first update since the build published on 15 August. On the third night, the rules on the wall always break One rule is rewritten upside down in vermilion. Another has its ink rubbed away. Both happen on the same night, to different rules. Until now only the inverted rule appeared; the rubbed-out one could never occur in the demo. But the rules change from night to night. The ink wears away. An unreadable line sinks, leaving only its number. Nails tear it open. What stood inside the torn band is anyone's guess. It is rewritten in vermilion, upside down. The characters are still there, but the inn has had it…Community21 Sep 2026Guess Right, and the Inn Reveals One ThingDuring each night at the inn, you read the scrawls on the walls and the scraped-out names in the ledger, then fill the Book of Truth one line at a time. When your reading is correct, the inn reveals exactly one thing . No long explanation. One line, admitting that you were right. When it is wrong, the opposite happens. The inn rearranges itself to fit what you wrote. Your mistake is not correct…
