The rules on the wall do not stay the same

宿の掟 / Rules of the Inn · published 22 Sep 2026, 11:58 UTC

Up to seven rules are posted on the wall of this inn.
Follow them and you will see the morning — that was the idea.

But the rules change from night to night.

The ink wears away. An unreadable line sinks, leaving only its number.
Nails tear it open. What stood inside the torn band is anyone's guess.
It is rewritten in vermilion, upside down. The characters are still there,
but the inn has had its hand on them.

Pause at any time and you may read the rules again. What you find there
may not be the line you memorised.

The words you learn collect in the guest register, and with them you can write
back the facts the inn is hiding — but each time you do what the rules forbade,
one answer you could have written turns to ash.

The demo is free to play. The full game is planned for 5 November 2026.
Add it to your wishlist and you will hear when it launches.

Another has its ink rubbed away. Both happen on the same night, to different rules. Until now only the inverted rule appeared; the rubbed-out one could never occur in the demo. When your reading is correct, the inn reveals exactly one thing . No long explanation. One line, admitting that you were right. When it is wrong, the opposite happens. The inn rearranges itself to fit what you wrote. Your mistake is not correct…In-game event19 Sep 2026The Book of Truth now reads like paper under a single lanternBefore dawn, you sit down with the Book of Truth. What you saw and heard in the inn becomes a card, and the cards go into the blanks. Nothing haunts you here. The only thing that turns up is the fact of what you failed to notice. We reworked this page. The fibre and the laid lines of the washi are unchanged; only the rules, the shadows and the edges are cooled a little. In a room lit by one lan…
